Meet Mzee Ojwang’s Real Wife As She Answers The Question “Did The Government Neglect Ojwang ?” (Photo+ Video)

For close to three decades, Mzee Ojwang and Mama Kayai have been part and parcel of Kenyan entertainment, thanks to the duo starring in one of Kenya’s most watched show ‘Vitimbi’.

Many Kenyans knew that Mama Kayai was Ojwang’s on air wife, but off air, he was married to one Augusta Wanjiru. To whom he had been married to for over 40 years, yes! 40 years.

His wife Augusta reveals that the two met at Mater hospital back in 1971, got married in 1975, got their first born kid in 1976. What drew the young Augustina was that Ojwang’ was funny and all nurses loved him in Mater because he was comical.

Many wonder why didn’t we ever get to see Augusta, well unlike her very public husband, she liked to keep a low profile and did not want too much of the media attention.

So she never attended his events at first because she thought comedy was silly, but with time she warmed up to him and became supportive of his craft.

So does she think the government neglected Mzee Ojwang? Contrary to popular belief, Augusta says that the government took good care of her husband saying that “ Serikali ilimchinga vizuri na wakubwa walikuwa wanampenda sana”
