Michelle Obama’s Book Becoming Crashes Sales Records

In less than a week since its release, Michelle Obama’s memoir Becoming, has smashed sales records. It has become one of this year’s biggest debuts. It topped 725,000 copies, a figure that includes sales and pre-orders in the book’s hardcover, audio and e-book edition.

The book was released on Tuesday, the same day Michelle launched her book tour.

The reviews of the book have been positive, with The Washington Post praising its “impressive balance in telling the truth of her challenges while repeatedly acknowledging her lucky life.”

Becoming has had the biggest opening of any books in 2018, and is exceeding the pace of previous memoirs by first ladies.
