Memories of coldhearted police ruthlessly beating a protester who was lying motionless are still fresh in our minds. But you will not hate all men and women in uniform after seeing what an AP cop did!
Police are arguably the most hated lot in Kenya. And this is particularly due to decade-long mistrust that has existed between law enforcement officers and members of the general public.
In the eyes of many, police are underpaid, semi-educated and insensible bastards who serve the interest of the ruling elite.
But this perception is not true of all men and women in uniform. An Administration Police officer has wowed Kenyans by his daring action.
The officer recorded a video telling the public not all police officers were ruthless and insensitive. He says he doesn’t support some actions by the police.
“Mimi ni karao but ukiniona na uniform usianze kunipoint fingers na kuanza kusema ‘ndo hao ndo hao’. I don’t support some police action but neither do I support violent mass action. Ata kama navaa uniform haimanishi sina feelings ama siwezi relate na life ya mavijanaa. Sijacome kukupiga na teargas, nimecome kukupiga na words.” The officers introduced himself.
His words melted the heart of Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko who shared the video disclosing the officer couldn’t have framed his words any better.
