Mutahi Ngunyi Appears Before The NCIC For His ‘Demeaning Statements’ Against The Luo Community

A few tweets sent out by political scientist Mutahi Ngunyi have landed him in hot soup.

Unlike other politicians who have used inflammatory comments in the past and were thereafter sent off with a slap on the wrist, his case has gotten serious.

Mutahi yesterday appeared before The National Cohesion and Integration Commission, NCIC where he was interrogated following his offensive remarks leveled towards the Luo community.

He went ahead and apologized to the community and offered a goat to their council of elders for the rabble-rousing remarks. But he insisted that the apology was to the Luo community but not Raila.

“I have a constitutional right to criticize Raila Odinga, and I have absolutely no reasons to apologize. We must distinguish between Raila Odinga and not the Luo nation” he retorted.

Mutahi’s file on hate speech is expected to be handed over to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) by NCIC as soon as possible.
