Chimamanda Adichie doesn’t really feel good about Nigeria<\/h3>\n

The workstation, a commerce hub was filled with fans of acclaimed writer, Chimamanda Adichie on Saturday the 22st of September 2018.\u00a0 It was an evening of conversations around the writer’s recent books We should all be Feminist and Dear Ijeawele. It was at the hangout that the writer said that she is still thinking about how she feels about Nigeria.<\/p>\n

It can be recalled that there was a backlash after her interview with Hilary Clinton when she questioned her about her Twitter bio. After the interview, she was labeled all sort of things and called all sort of names for questioning the status quo.\u00a0 Journalist Fredrick Nwabufo even said that she will lead other women to hell<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While talking at the hangout she said:<\/p>\n

\u201cwatching my mother, I felt close to tears,\u201d she said. \u00a0Adichie, whose clap back at a French journalist\u00a0who had asked her if there were libraries in Nigeria warmed her to the hearts of many, said the episode made her begin to rethink how she felt about Nigeria.<\/p>\n

When I got back to Lagos and there is just all of this noise and apparently it\u2019s just all of ugliness, people said to me: ‘they are writing public letters to you. They said you are a demon; that you want to break up marriages, all kinds of things. I felt. Let me be honest, that is the first time I really started to rethink how I felt about Nigeria.<\/p>\n

I have never done that before. Until then, I had been a very dutiful daughter of Nigeria and I am still at that phase where I am thinking about how I really, really feel about Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
