One of the pioneers of modern day Nigerian music, Tuface Idibia, has taken a swipe at the National Broadcasting Commission over their inability to control the kind of songs that gets circulated.<\/p>\n
This was in an interview with E-Daily, where he spoke about the kind of music that trends in the country. According to him, media houses play supposedly bad songs during the day when people are active. Those that are considered good songs are played in the night when people are asleep, he said.<\/p>\n
Noting that sponsors want to make profit, he stated that they will only invest on these ‘bad songs’ because they want to make more money from it.<\/p>\n
According to the singer, the National Broadcasting Commission that is supposed to control this are not doing so well. They only ban songs that are already popular, he said. By the time the songs are banned however, they are already popular, he said.<\/p>\n
Excerpts from the interview below;<\/p>\n
the crap music all over the place now is because the gate keepers play good songs when people are asleep at night; when there is no one to listen to the music. So if you do that kind of music and you take it to the radio and they refuse to play it, what do you do? And most of the financial back up artistes get is from people who want to make their money back immediately\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n
People are afraid of investing their money on artistes who sing good music..Though the music will still be entertaining but the ear of the people has changed. You and I know that on a normal day it is good music we listen to, except when we go to parties. The youths have their mind tuned to the kind of music being made now; it\u2019s difficult to remove it. It has to be a deliberate action to do so<\/em>\u2018, he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
On NBC, the singer has this to say:<\/h3>\n
Before NBC is able to ban any music, it has gone popular already. That means they didn\u2019t even hear it on time in the first place. It\u2019s after the song has gone viral that they will want to ban it. No one is doing any work.<\/em><\/p>\n
It is very important that we have a responsible government and to have that we must have responsible people because if we don\u2019t have responsible people, this is the kind of government we will keep having.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
