{"id":994,"date":"2017-10-11T13:22:19","date_gmt":"2017-10-11T12:22:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghafla.com\/ng\/?p=994"},"modified":"2017-10-11T13:22:19","modified_gmt":"2017-10-11T12:22:19","slug":"toke-makinwa-raises-awareness-parents-abusing-children-emotionally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/ng\/toke-makinwa-raises-awareness-parents-abusing-children-emotionally\/","title":{"rendered":"Toke Makinwa Raises Awareness on Parents Abusing their Children Emotionally"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Toke Makinwa raises awareness on Emotional abuse which is most times taken in the light of partners\/lovers hurting each other in ways that are beyond the physical.<\/h2>\n<p>Popular media personality, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/ng\/874-2\/\">Toke Makinwa who recently dissolved her marriage with her estranged husband, Maje Ayida <\/a>has taken time out to discuss issues of emotional and this time, her focus is on parents who abuse their kids emotionally.<\/p>\n<p>In a series of Tweets she said,<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI had a chat on my show about emotional abuse yesterday and I have made up my mind to raise awareness on this topic\u2026 read next tweets<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>When people hear emotional abuse they are quick to think man\/woman dynamic but do you know parents emotionally abuse their kids too<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>You hear how some parents talk down\u00a0<\/em>on<em>\u00a0their children, the harsh words used to correct them, magnifying their weakness and in some cases<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Some mothers take the frustration of the fathers out on their kids, some fathers in a bid to get back at their wives do the same<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>You hear of a man divorcing his wife and out of bitterness inflicts the pain on his children, he doesn\u2019t pay school fees\u2026.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The woman also out of bitterness of the father leaving takes her anger out on the children words like \u201cyou are useless like your father\u201d \u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Even in\u00a0<\/em>work places<em>, a boss uses his position to talk down\u00a0<\/em>at<em>\u00a0everyone, emotional abuse is not restricted to love relationships alone<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Sometimes the perpetrators don\u2019t even know it. There\u2019s a cycle of my parents raised me that way and I didn\u2019t die therefore my kids\u00a0<\/em>won\u2019t<em>\u00a0too<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Some\u00a0<\/em>of<em>\u00a0us were raised in hostile homes, mummy and daddy\u2019s mood determined the general mood in the house<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>When they fight you dare not come of your room or ask for anything, sometimes you blame yourself for why your parents hate each other<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>They won\u2019t separate because of what the society would say but the children go thru hell and endure the result of the bad choices they made<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>That child now grows up and if help is not given goes on to be abusive in his own relationship too. It\u2019s a Cycle we must break<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I know of a man who doesn\u2019t take care of his own son cos in his words \u201cshe trapped me\u201d.
