‘Nipatieni Miezi Tatu Tu!’-President Ruto Makes New Promises To Kibra Residents (Video)
”Tutawasaidia kiasi kwamba wale wote wamepoteza maisha yao serikali itagharamikia gharama yote inayotakikana” president Ruto.
Those were President Ruto’s first words while addressing residents of Kibra this past weekend where he had visited to console with citizens from the neighborhood following on Saturday’s fire outbreak.
As seen on footage, president Ruto was accompanied by the Nairobi governor among other leaders who availed themselves to console with the fire victims; that have since been left homeless and stranded, while a few victims remain homeless.
Speaking on Sunday, 25th – the president made it known that he had already spoken to Siaya MP, Atandi Samuel to set aside Kshs 500 Million which will be used to rectify and restore proper power supply in the area.
“Tumeweka millioni Sh 500 kuhakikisha kwamba we correct all illegal connections. The ministry is going to work with all stake holders to ensure that we avoid illegal connections that occasionally result in these fires,” the president promised.
According to the president this is but the first step to help improve Kibra which has for years been known as a slum area.
For this reason, the president shared his plans to demolish the slum with a promise to rebuild new modern buildings which will improve the areas image not forgetting – reduction of congestion in the area.
In his speech, the president went on to urge the area residents to cooperate with his government as it intends to improve their lifestyle, just like it did in Mukuru kwa jenga and its surrounding.
“Katiba ya Kenya sehemu ya arobaini na tatu inasema kila mwanainchi anafaa kuishi mahali kuna heshima. Mahali kuna maji, stima na usafi,” the president went on adding;
Na hiyo kazi nitafanya na bidii, wapige kelele wanavyotaka lakini, that we must do.
Fire victims
As for those who lost their lives in the fire, President Ruto promised to have his government pay off all the bills required for funeral plans.
Victims in the hospital were also promised free healthcare while the rest left homeless were promised new temporal homes for the mean time.
