Njoki Chege Rushes To The Defense Of Kajwang’s Second Wife

Soon after Senator Kajwang Kicked the bucket a woman Faith Vivian Otieno was kicked out of the Lee Funeral home with a stunning daughter in tow.

Many chastised her as they assumed that she was Senator Kajwang’s ‘Maopngo wa Kando’ but evidence and reliable sources reveal that she was the LEGAL second wife of the senator and he had even paid her dowry. 60,000 shillings and six cows to be specific.

Faith’s treatment and rejection demonstrated the plight of second wives who are often labeled as ‘home wreckers’ with people forgetting that it was the man who CHOSE her as the second wife.

In the entertainment industry this has been experienced with many rebuking singer Linda Muthama for marrying Nyambane, mind you, this is an industry that calls itself ‘liberal’. But people were really up in arms over this even the self-proclaimed liberals.

I came across an article written by Njoki Chege defending Kajawng’s Vivian and other second wives. And for once I agree with her,or rather parts of her article, not because I intend on being someone’s second wife, but because its well written

Here is an excerpt from the article:

“I think first wives need to treat second wives with a little more respect than the scenario we saw play out the other day.
I can only imagine the sting that comes with realising that your husband has a number two. But acting like she doesn’t exist and treating the other woman with disrespect in public does not justify your pain.

By the way, acting like she doesn’t exist, ignoring her and barring her from burying that man she equally loved does not make her go away. It only makes you a coward who is not able to face certain challenges in life.
Ignoring the second wife or ‘that woman’ as you probably call her is like having a boil on your forehead and walking around town, acting like it is not there. It is foolish to treat her and her children disrespectfully, especially if she has been around for as long as 19 years.

After all, if anyone is to blame and answer the hard questions, it is that man who choose to have a second wife.
It is not like she dragged your husband out of your marital home, kicking and screaming, forcing him to marry her.
He went out of his way to have a second wife, for a reason you probably know but won’t admit just yet. “
