Parliament Approves Appointment Of Martin Amidu As Special Prosecutor

Martin Amidu is ready for his new position.

Martin Amidu is now the special prosecutor. The entire house of parliament approved his appointment. However, it came after some intense debate on the floor.

NDC Mp, Dominic Ayine raised objections. However, Speaker Mike Ocquaye overruled him. He then called for the vote. This led to Amidu’s approval.

The vote on the floor of the house followed the Appointment Committee approving the former Attorney General’s candidacy.

Road To Martin Amidu Appointment As Special Prosecutor

President Nana Akufo-Addo nominated the former NDC minister for the role earlier this year. Furthermore, he was vetted by Parliament’s Appointment Committee.

Despite a suit at the Supreme Court challenging his appointment, Parliament went ahead to approve him.
