Planned Power Interruptions on April 10

Several areas in the Mt. Kenya region are set to experience scheduled power outages on Friday, April 10, 2026, as part of routine maintenance by Kenya Power.

The planned interruptions will affect parts of Nyeri and Meru counties, with outages expected to last up to nine hours.

Nyeri County

In Nyeri County, areas within Thamaru and Ngunguru will be affected from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Locations set to experience the outage include Kahara Village, Karogoto Market, Kahiga Village, Thamaru Village, Ngunguru Secondary School, Kiambachi Village, Ngurumo Dispensary, Ngunguru Coffee Factory, Maingirano Village, as well as nearby Safaricom and Airtel booster sites and surrounding customers.

Meru County

In Meru County, power interruptions will occur between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. across a wide area covering Kiengu and Kiutini.

Affected locations include Nchiru, Kianjai, Ngundune, Akithi, Karumo, Maua Town, Kangeta, Kihutini, Kinaa, Igembe and Kiegoi industrial areas, Athi, Baranga, Karama, Muthara, KWS Murera, Rhino Camp, Lare, Ruirii, Mutuati, Kandone, Kabachi, Thangareini, Tuuru, Kooju, Dituene, Muriri, Nyambene Girls and surrounding areas.

Advisory to Residents

Kenya Power has advised residents and businesses in the affected areas to plan ahead and make necessary arrangements during the outage period.

The maintenance exercise is part of ongoing efforts to improve the reliability and stability of electricity supply across the region.
