Presenter Ali Opens Up About Depression Despite Earning Half a Million on YouTube

Content creator and Forex trader Presenter Ali has revealed the emotional struggles he faced at the height of his financial success. In an interview with a local radio station on Thursday, September 18, 2025, Ali shared that despite earning up to Ksh500,000 a month from YouTube in 2021, the money did not bring him the happiness he expected.

Ali described his life at the time as a dream come true, with financial independence and creative freedom. However, he quickly learned that success on the platform is like a rollercoaster with unpredictable highs and lows.

The Unexpected Toll of Success

“I thought the money I was getting was going to make me really happy,” he admitted. Having grown up in an environment where financial security was a constant worry, he initially believed that wealth was the solution to all his problems.

The irony, he explained, was that he fell into a deep depression right around the time his channel hit a major milestone of 100,000 subscribers. This was a huge achievement at the time, but the pressure behind the scenes was immense.

Ali revealed he was handling every aspect of his content creation alone—from shooting and editing to uploading videos. The physical and mental strain became overwhelming. He recalled mornings when he was so physically exhausted that his back would give out, forcing him to roll out of bed just to stand up.

“I thought I was going to be happy, but no,” he said. His candid admission sheds light on the often-unseen pressures of online success and the disconnect between financial gain and personal well-being.
