An exclusive Coke Studio Africa Meet & Greet event was held yesterday at the rooftop of Sankara Hotel. The event was graced by celebrated American singer/songwriter NE-YO among other Coke Studio Africa artists including: Alikiba (Tanzania), Wangechi (Kenya), Ice Prince (Nigeria), Dama Do Bling (Mozambique) and Maurice Kirya (Uganda), Jua Cali (Kenya)and Elani (Kenya).

Others included top Kenyan celebrities, personalities, Coca-Cola representatives, music industry players among other stakeholders

NE-YO has recorded a special mash-up song with 5 artists. He said, “It’s a true honor to return to Africa and celebrate artists from all over the continent. By creating this musical fusion through Coke Studio Africa, people of all races, ethnicities and religion will come together through this remarkable opportunity.”

“I’m so excited to build lasting moments with all of these incredibly talented artists and musicians.Being in Kenya for the first time, he expressed his delight, gratitude and anticipation to work with the African artists on the upcoming season Coke Studio Africa – premieres in October,” he added.

Africa’s biggest music mash-up will have NE-YO, Alikiba, Wangechi, Ice Prince, Dama Do Bling and Maurice Kirya on the track.

The new season of Coke Studio Africa will for the first time, task artists with a unique format of mash-ups – the latest trend in the global music industry. “A celebration of African music” being its core element. Coke Studio Africa show is a non-competitive format, which seeks to bring together and showcase the diversity of African musical talent unlike other music programmes that focus on the emergence of a winner.

It also gives upcoming artists the opportunity to work with some of the best local and international music and production talent. The objective of the show is to reinvent the way music captures the imagination and heart of our continent. The show will not only celebrate local African grown music talent but also create unique music mash-ups.

Grammy Award winning musician and producer Zwai Bala of ground-breaking South African Kwaito group TKZee is the new show’s music director while Brett Lotriet, a renowned International TV director and producer is working as the series producer. The musicians along with a highly talented house band will this season present new tracks produced by both local and international producers.

Some of the producers include Jaaz Odongo, Eric Musyoka and Kevin Provoke from Kenya, Cobhams Asuquo, Masterkraft and Chopstix from Nigeria, Owour Arunga from USA, Nahreel from Tanzania and Silvastone from the UK. With this pool of music geniuses this show will take music production on the continent to a whole new level.

On the new season of Coca-Cola’s African flagship music show, 26 music artistes from Nigeria, Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will be featured. Coke Studio Africa will be broadcasted across Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Mozambique.
