It was an all black affair as some of our local celebs celebrated the 30th birthday of TV personality Pearl Thusi.

Showing off their best attire, the stars posed for pictures, got down on the dance floor and took some time to serenade the birthday girl who was dressed in a sexy blue number.

After a strange twar broke out between actress Pearl Thusi and rapper Cassper Nyovest on Thursday, it became clear by Friday morning that it was just a publicity stunt to promote his latest music video.
Thusi confirmed it on Twitter, but said that she really had fallen off the horse.

After Thusi posted photos of herself riding a horse and saying she had fallen off it at one point, on Thursday Cassper apparently found the idea hilarious and told her that black women shouldn’t even be trying to ride them.
“What were you doing on a horse wena as a black woman?”
He advised her that certain things “should be left to white people”.
She was apparently unimpressed at Cassper’s mockery and gave him a quick lesson in feminism: “So you believe black women should be limited? You’re (sic) narrow minded self also doesn’t know black people were riding horses on our continent for centuries?! And now as a black woman I must be confined to YOUR LIMITS. Nigga GTFOH.”
The abbreviation stands for “Get the f**k outta here.”
Cassper hit back, asking her if her anger was because he’d laughed at her for falling off the horse or because he’d wondered what a black woman was doing on a horse in the first place.
She told him to “free his mind” and added that people shouldn’t be telling others what they were capable of.
However, it became clear that Thusi was on the horse for his KsazobaLITi music video, released on Freedom Day.
In the video Cassper is wearing a farmer’s outfit and dancing among the fields. He also drives an old tractor around, much to the apparent consternation of a big white farmer coming out of his farmhouse.
A hip-hop dance crew does its moves in a field while there’s even a cameo from choreographer and presenter star Somizi driving a big delivery truck.
There’s also more humour in the video, since the farmer starts to join in by dancing and joining a meal at the end of the video.
The message of the song centres on black people reclaiming land.
The EFF, which successfully tabled a motion in parliament in March to have the constitution changed to allow for land expropriation without compensation, said in a tweet: “Fellow South Africans & fighters, let’s all watch @CassperNyovest’s #KsazobalitMusicVide be inspired on #FreedomDay! It breaks the stereotype that youth, particularly in the urban of pop cultures like hip hop, are not interested in the land. #WeAreReady.”

Pearl Thusi has shared many memories with Ma Winnie Mandela since their first meet up in 2014.
News of her death thus left Pearl shattered to the core.
She has now come out a week later, to speak on the pain in her heart.

Pearl hopes to live a life that Ma Winnie will be proud of.

I pray you tell me in that low, smooth, soothing voice, measured, yet unable to hide your passion – that I kept the torch alive & was wise enough to pass it on.”
Ma Winnie died last Monday and will be given a state funeral on April 14th.

Pearl Thusi was left unharmed on Thursday evening, after an attempted robbery.
She was held at gunpoint in her car while waiting for a traffic light in Braamfontein.
Pearl took to Twitter to detail the whole incident.
“Someone definitely just pulled a gun on me on the road in Braam while I was in my car. Then said I must give him my phone or he’ll shoot me. I said no, then drove away (luckily the light just turned green). I only started freaking out a few minutes later. (sic)”
She went on to say: “Maybe he thought I can’t speak Zulu?! Maybe he was stressed that I didn’t freak out. Maybe he didn’t have bullets? Maybe Jesus said ‘not today Satan.’ All I’m grateful for is to be alive and unscathed.”

In a recent interview on Touch HD, Pearl Thusi revealed her high flying status has affected parts of her private life, but it is a sacrifice she is willing to take.
She revealed that she has been single for eight months. For Pearl, it is hard to date within South Africa.
“I’ve been single for eight months, I’ve been single for a while..the truth is, I struggle to get into a relationship in South Africa because I’m afraid of why somebody will be getting in a relationship with me or why I’m getting into a relationship with them. I can’t even play with someone because, for me, it’s like, who are they gonna tell, am I a trophy, and there are all these other things I need to think of.”
She has decided to widen her relationship borders and have an open mind in terms of race.
“I’m still optimistic but I’ve decided to open up the borders and keep my mind open and keep my relationship opportunities quite democratic in terms of race. One thing I’ve learned is, if I’m not a hundred percent, I can’t expect to be completed by somebody else, I want for us to create fireworks as two complete people who are going to make the world a better place.”
Pearl’s career requires her to travel a lot. A thing that may affect her daughter. She however says her daughter understands that this is a sacrifice she has to make.
“She cries every time I leave, she’s sad but she understands the purpose of it all, she’s got big dreams, I always tell her I don’t want her to wish that Ariana Grande or Beyonce or anybody else…was her mother, I want her to be glad that I’m her mom and for me to make her proud, these are the sacrifices we need to make, she’s got a father who also loves and supports her, so it makes us stronger but it’s difficult.”
Since launching her Black Pearl hair care products in November of 2015, Pearl will be making her first cheque in April.
“I’m only gonna cut my first cheque from next month, it’s been a while, it’s almost three years now…I’m only getting my first cheque now in April, almost three years later. People don’t understand the thing about hard work and patience, our hair care range is doing so well, the feedback is so insane.”
