{"id":7222,"date":"2018-02-22T11:29:47","date_gmt":"2018-02-22T09:29:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghafla.com\/sa\/?p=7222"},"modified":"2018-02-22T11:29:47","modified_gmt":"2018-02-22T09:29:47","slug":"nadia-nakai-speaks-isidingo-shaming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/sa\/nadia-nakai-speaks-isidingo-shaming\/","title":{"rendered":"Nadia Nakai speaks on the Isidingo shaming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nadia Nakai is not offended that\u00a0<em>Isidingo<\/em>\u00a0used her no-make-up snap as a plot point in an episode.<\/p>\n<p>The 27-year-old rapper recently found herself fodder for cyber bullies, after the bare-fared snap surfaced online.<\/p>\n<p>Critics were quick to pass judgement on how different the star looks without her usually perfectly made-up face.<\/p>\n<p>The snap was taken at a guest lodge where Nadia and her beau, Bandile Mbere, were enjoying some quality time for Valentine&#8217;s Day.<\/p>\n<p>Plenty of Twitter trolls threw shade at Nadia, dubbing her \u201cunrecognisable\u201d in the new photo.<\/p>\n<p>But not everyone was critical of Nadia\u2019s bare-faced look. Using the #NadiaNakaiMakeUpChallenge, women started posting side-by-side snaps of themselves with and without make-up.<\/p>\n<p>Nadia\u2019s photos gained so much traction that they even made their way into an episode of local soapie,\u00a0<em>Isidingo.<\/em>\u00a0In one scene, two characters discuss the difference between Nadia\u2019s bare-faced photo with one of her usual looks, even mentioning Nadia by name.<\/p>\n<p>Nadia\u2019s close friend and label boss, Cassper Nyovest, slammed the show for the skit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomeone sent me this clip of Isidingo shaming Nadia Nakai, like all the other cyber bullies,\u201d he captioned the clip on Twitter. \u00a0\u201cI wonder how they think the poor girl will feel. Wow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Nadia says she isn\u2019t hurt by it \u2013 in fact, she fully understands why\u00a0<em>Isidingo<\/em>\u00a0chose to feature her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI understand that they need to keep their script current and this is something that they usually do. So, I don\u2019t expect them to treat the situation differently, just because it\u2019s me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t feel like they shamed me or owe me anything, but they did add fuel to the fire, which was unnecessary and that\u2019s why Cassper commented.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Isidingo<\/em>\u00a0spokesperson Sumaya Mogola was shocked when YOU phoned them for a comment regarding the tweet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe did not mean to offend anyone,\u201d she said. \u201cIsidingo strives to stay current with whatever is trending or in the news and usually work it into the show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also did not mean to offend Nadia Nakai. She is beautiful with or without makeup. She is just a beautiful girl.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for the #NadiaNakaiMakeUpChallenge, Nadia says she\u2019s proud of how women turned something that was meant to shame her into an opportunity to embrace their natural beauty.<\/p>\n<p>She admits she was initially hurt by the challenge, but now she loves what it has come to stand for.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI actually think it\u2019s a dope challenge, women took something that was supposed to be hurtful and turned it into something positive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey rallied behind it, shared pictures of themselves and started embracing their natural selves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Naa Meaan hitmaker says it was actually Cassper who pointed out the benefits of the Twitter trend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI won\u2019t lie, I was very hesitant when this all started but Cassper was the one who said that it\u2019s good that I can inspire women to love themselves and have that kind of influence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCassper is like my brother and he knows how something like this affects me, so I understand where he was coming from.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nadia Nakai is not offended that\u00a0Isidingo\u00a0used her no-make-up snap as a plot point in an episode.
