Nadia Nakai has come out to explain the reason behind her no girl collabo rule.<\/p>\n
She set the record straight on SlikouronLife where she said her initial decision was perceived to be anti-women empowerment.<\/p>\n
For Nadia however, she made that decision as female collaborations would dim her light.<\/p>\n
“There’s a reason why I didn’t do it at the time. I didn’t jump onto those songs and for me\u201a it was okay that I wasn’t on the Baddest remix. I would have never shined as Nadia Nakai. Instead I would have shined as just another female rapper. And\u201a that’s what I didn’t want. I want that when I’m involved in something\u201a Nadia Nakai has an impact.”<\/p>\n
As a female rapper, she has had to be strategic about where she positions herself.<\/p>\n
A lot of things have changed and Nadia is now willing to do collaborations.<\/p>\n
“That’s the reason why I didn’t want to work with female rappers before because I felt like nobody had created anything for themselves to make the collaboration impactful.
