The accolades just keep rolling in.
This time for the movie Fundi-Mentals a Historia Films and Native Productions Production . The movie started off with two nominations at the AMVCAs that happened earlier this year in Lagos which were hotly followed by three nominations at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards in New York.
The 10th installment of the Nigerian Entertainment Awards happened over the weekend and Fundi-Mentals Director Alexandros Konstantaras walked away with the award for Best Director (Africa) 2015. He was up against notable African directors from Ghana, USA and Cameroon: Shirley Frimpong-Manso, Eddie Nartey, Gilbert Agbor and Sam Kessie.
Alex said “I am very proud for the recognition this nomination and the award gave me across the borders. That’s the first award I am receiving outside Kenya and it’s very important to know that my work is being recognized outside the country and even the continent! I would like to thank the cast and crew of Fundi-Mentals for the amazing job they did as well as our fans that without their votes I wouldn’t be here now. Last but not least my family in Greece and Kenya and my wife Lizz for the unconditional support all these years! For more to come!”
The movie was also nominated in the category Best African Movie of 2015 (producers Lizz Njagah – John Wambugu) and the protagonist Gerald Langiri was nominated for Best African Actor 2015!
Together with Sauti Sol, Historia Films were the only Kenyan representatives in the awards! Sauti Sol missed the award to Ugandan Eddie Kenzo.
