Shocking: City Council Askaris ROB A Pedestrian (Video)

It’s the reverse on the streets of Nairobi where city askaris are quickly turning into tormentors of the city. One lady Doreen Ogola on Saturday came face to face with the thieving ways of the askaris after they took her jacket containing money, claiming carrying a second jacket was against council by laws.

On her way to the bus station after picking up the jacket from the tailor, she was accosted by the askaris for carrying the jacket on her shoulder! “Twende wewe mbele yangu unayebeba nguo hivo. Hakuna ruhusa ya kubeba nguo ivo. Twende utuambie mbele,” narrated Doreen quoting the askaris. When she asked them where they were taking her, they argued, “Unafikiria nilikuja Nairobi jana?” and asking why she was carrying an extra jacket claiming that she was going against the by-law.

They then gave her two options; either she pays a bribe or they confiscate the jacket. She refused to part with the cash and it’s at this point that they drove off with her jacket which contained her wallet with Sh7000 and her identification documents.
