Yesterday, Al Jazeera released its much awaited investigative “INSIDE KENYA’S DEATH SQUADS” which has gone viral causing jitters among some people.
The investigative exposes members of Kenya’s counter-terrorism police admitting to “eliminating” suspected Muslim radicals. Down is the footage:

Maurice Kokonya: Funny how they have Ugandan accents, it is very irresponsible of Al Jazeera to make this documentrary, those guys could be any one, how do we know for sure. The information provided on this documentary has been well covered and is not news. What is more disturbing is how they put a religious angle to it – I cannot defend the Kenyan Security Forces because I have witnessed the corruption and brutality first hand, but extra judicial killings in Kenya have been well documented even before Al-Shabaab was a threat locally Philip Alston UN Special Rapporteur and this was 2009 before even Al Shabaab came into the picture. This report was done because lots of Kenyan youths were being killed, allegedly because they belonged to Mungiki ‘ an illegal criminal gang’.
The problem I have of this Al Jazeera so called exposé is it tells nothing new except trying to imply that Kenya as a country has an Agenda against muslims which is very false, alarmist and nothing close to the truth. Of concern also is another documentary produced by Al Jazeera implying that Kenyan Somalis are targeted and excluded from the government which I found malicious and very untrue and lacked in facts while being very economical with the truth.
As a parting shot, are Kenyan security forces corrupt – YES they are just like any other country’s including Qatar itself, but what the report fails to note which is very vital is this brutality befalls everyone and is not limited to Muslims only far more non-muslims youths have been killed and are missing. By implying this is limited to Muslims they are spreading the Al Shabaab agenda and their new tactic of targeting non-muslims to spur religious conflict.
Al Jazeera once thought to be an impartial messengers of the truth, have become good students of their other compariots CNN and BBC, selling alarmists stories that lack in originality, shallow in research with imperialistic agenda biased against non-muslims.

Oyuga Nelson: Its a shame how Aljazeera has falsified information about Kenya and its leadership in the documentary for reasons only known to them. For all those buying whatever bulls is being reported get your facts right:
#1 President Uhuru Kenyatta’s case at the ICC was dropped: If any of the allegations about the killings should even be considered than there is no way of linking Uhuru Kenyatta to them. They happened in the previous regime.
#2 Kenya did not invade Somalia; Ethiopia did and then AMISON followed suit. Kenya happens to be a member of AMISON and so had to supply soldiers. So Alshabaab and the ignorant Somalis trying to justify their killings have no grounds for doing so.
#3 Kenya is nobody’s puppet. As a matter of fact, Uhuru’s government denied British soldiers training in and with Kenya and he was very categorical that if the West desires to suck all that Kenya has to offer (as it has been doing before) then the government will not hesitate to turn to the East for trading partners (as it is now doing and thanks to that there is visible development in terms of structures and infrastructure).
#4 Extrajudicial killings happen everywhere; including in what has been termed as the biggest democracy in the globeand in the UK as well: so citing a few cases in Kenya does not justify this attempt at painting Kenya as the global black sheep.
#5 The Somalis who are busy making noise over this documentary should understand that Kenya remains to be the biggest and third fastest growing economy in East Africa and Somalia will never achieve this status in the foreseeable future. Somehow Caucasian journalists are busy trying to bring down Kenya with their lame ass documentaries but even so the country still thrives.
