South African Comedian Gives Kenya a Positive Mention on America’s Mainstream TV

After the Aids slur that was made by US televangelist Pat Robertson on Kenya, South African comedian, Trevor Noah, went on a mission to change the negative perspective that some Americans have on Africa.

CBN TV’s Pat Robertson caused tantrums in the country when he cautioned his compatriots from travelling to Kenya for fear of contracting HIV through towels. The sheer arrogance by the controversial preacher opened the Pandora’s Box as it ignited a fierce debate as to how some Americans had a skewed imagination of Kenya in particular and Africa at large.

South African comedian, Trevor Noah, went to America to change the notion that Africa was a doomed continent; the funnyman was hosted by Jon Stewart on The Daily Show. The segment gave Americans the opportunity to look at the positive side of Africa other than the usual poverty, disease infested etc. image that most Americans have on Africa.

Stewart and Noah’s segment played a guessing game of “Spot the Africa,” featuring side-by-side snapshots of America versus Africa. Noah showed some photos of places in Africa which most ignorant and prejudiced Americans would have easily mistaken them to be somewhere in America. Watch the clip below:
