Central Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The loan size to smaller healthcare providers -which serve more than half of Africa\u2019s population, including low-income patients &#8211; is expected to range from $5,000 to $2 million, to help them lease or purchase equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, most smaller healthcare operators in Africa cannot secure bank loans due to their perceived high investment risks, meaning they can\u2019t afford medical equipment, renovations, or to recruit qualified personnel.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/sponsored\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/04\/images-31.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1454\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/sponsored\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/04\/images-31.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"678\" height=\"452\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/sponsored\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/04\/images-31.jpeg 678w, https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/sponsored\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/04\/images-31-300x200.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 678px) 100vw, 678px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cMany smaller healthcare businesses in Africa don\u2019t have the equipment they need to respond to COVID-19 and deliver other vital services,\u201d<\/em> said Makhtar Diop, IFC\u2019s Managing Director.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c<\/strong><em>Unlocking access to finance can save lives now and will, in the long term, strengthen healthcare systems across the continent.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Supported by the International Development Association Private Sector Window (IDA-PSW) Blended Finance Facility and the Global Financing Facility for Women, Children and Adolescents (GFF), the facility falls under IFC\u2019s Global Health Platform, which was launched to help developing countries fight the coronavirus pandemic and increase their healthcare systems\u2019 resilience.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cLack of access to affordable quality healthcare is one of the most pressing issues of our time,\u201d<\/em> said Winfried Jansen, Health Systems Leader, Philips Africa.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/sponsored\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/04\/images-35.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1455\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/sponsored\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/04\/images-35.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"374\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/sponsored\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/04\/images-35.jpeg 374w, https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/sponsored\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/04\/images-35-300x241.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 374px) 100vw, 374px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cPhilips aims to contribute substantially to improving healthcare in Africa through innovative solutions that are tailored to local needs. Many clinics on the continent would like to invest in new medical technology but find it difficult to obtain the necessary finance.
