{"id":2275,"date":"2021-07-23T11:10:23","date_gmt":"2021-07-23T08:10:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghafla.com\/sponsored\/?p=2275"},"modified":"2021-07-23T12:00:07","modified_gmt":"2021-07-23T09:00:07","slug":"boda-boda-riders-set-to-benefit-as-co-op-bank-partners-with-german-devt-co-operation-giz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/sponsored\/boda-boda-riders-set-to-benefit-as-co-op-bank-partners-with-german-devt-co-operation-giz\/","title":{"rendered":"Boda Boda riders set to benefit as Co-op Bank partners with German Dev&#8217;t Co-operation (GIZ)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Young people engaged in the \u2018boda boda\u2019 business are set to benefit from a partnership between the Co-operative Bank Foundation and the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) to enhance the employment and business growth for 3,000 boda boda riders.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership will offer riders support in business skills, digital tools to run their business and more important, road safety to reduce the high rate of accidents and loss of lives involving boda boda riders across the country.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/sponsored\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/07\/images-8-1.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2277\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/sponsored\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/07\/images-8-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The project will be first implemented in the Coast, Eastern and Central regions of Kenya, after which it will be rolled out to other parts of the country.<\/p>\n<p>To kick-off the project going, the Co-op Bank Foundation will be engaging the boda boda riders through their associations and groups, and also owners of motorcycle fleets, women who run boda boda businesses and riders who operate electric and solar-powered motor bikes.<\/p>\n<p>Other key project partners offering support to the project include;<\/p>\n<p>The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to provide training on road safety and compliance, SAFAL MRM Group Foundation to mobilise the riders for training, Mark Holdings Limited for providing service facility for the motorbikes, and Co-op Bank Bancassurance to provide insurance and training, mainly on benefits of insurance and risk mitigation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/sponsored\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/07\/images-9.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2278\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/sponsored\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/07\/images-9.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is implementing the project under the Employment and Skills for Development in Africa (E4D) programme.<\/p>\n<p>The GIZ Country Director Mr. Bodo Immink, lauded the project as a key milestone towards increasing job opportunities in the sector, saying;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInitiating and supporting sustainable development is what we do every day together with our partners.
