‘The Avengers’ Coming To Kenya This Week

Movie lovers will be delighted to discover that arguably the most anticipated super hero movie of the past four years is set to premiere right here in Nairobi on the 27th of April 2012.

‘The Avengers’ is set to premiere at the IMAX 20th Century on Mama Ngina Street Nairobi as well as at the Fox Cineplex in Sarit Center this coming Friday.

The movie is a 2012 American superhero film produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. It was initially scheduled for a 2011 release but later pushed back with the late signing of Scarlett Johansson onto the Avenger team. The film was written and directed by Joss Whedon and features an award winning line up that includes Robert Downey, Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson among other.

A 2010 animated series titled ‘The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ got fans eagerly anticipant of a movie adaptation featuring their favourite super heroes that had been cast in their individual films over a period of time. These included Iron Man 1 & 2 (2008), The Incredible Hulk, Captain America and Thor. After each adaptation, a featurette at the end showed signs of ‘The Avengers’ movie coming soon.

In the story line, Nick Fury, director of the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D., recruits Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, and Captain America to save the world from destruction.

Production began in April 2011 in New Mexico, and wrapped up in New York City on September 2011. The film was later converted to 3D in post-production and will also be available in IMAX.

Fans of the animated series ‘The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ are excited about the return of season 2, which premiered on the 1st of April 2012 with the episode ‘The Private War of Dr. Doom’. It is expected to be a 26 part micro series depicting the Avengers as they track down the remaining members of the Masters of Evil which ultimately leads them into getting mixed up in teh Kree vs Skrull war.
