These are Pivot East’s Top 10 Entertainment Apps
Pivot East released the list of top entertainment mobile applications which it thinks are fit to battle it out for the top prize of $10,000. The applications and services submitted were required to provide innovative ways of delivering entertainment value to the increasingly sophisticated populations of East Africa and beyond.
Pivot East was open to all residents of the Eastern African countries of Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi, Tanzania, South Sudan and Uganda.
Upon the close of applications that took place on the 31st of March, a carefully selected panel of industry experts with wide expertise in entrepreneurship, business development and investor relations assessed all the entries and selected the best 50 ideas.
Here are the shortlisted candidates in the Entertainment Category for the Pivot East Conference set to culminate in a grand finale at the Ole Sereni in June 2012:

Thees top fifty will be invited to firm up their business plans, complete their products to fully functional and deployable versions before a second selection is done. The improved business plans and applications will then be scrutinized again and the best 25 extracted to form pitching teams.
You would think that the process ends there, but it doesn’t! The top 25 will then undergo an intensive month-long coaching programme scheduled to begin tomorrow, 17th of April. It will be interesting to see the contestants go through mock pitching sessions while crucial business skills are being imparted, all for the $10,000 up for grabs in each category.
Sponsors for the process include Samsung, Nokia, Google, Facebook and Omidyar Networks.
