This Is Why Twitter Has Censored Cyprian Nyakundi’s Trending Hashtag
The price of poking your nose on the untouchables on social media is being censored. Twitter bigwig Cyprian Nyakundu rattled one of the most powerful financial institutions in the world and Twitter had to act.
The World Bank is under siege. Kenyans led by Cyprian Nyakundi and the brainy PLO Lumumba are firing salvos at the international financial institution.
But why are Kenyans angry with World Bank, an institution which has been on the fore front waging war on poverty and providing loans to developing nations?
Nyakundi started #WorldImpoverishingBank after he read the viral Huffington Post article that peeled back World Bank’s mask.
According to the American online news aggregator and blog, the Kenyan government was using a World Bank-backed conservation project to bankroll a wave of evictions in Cherangani Hills targeting the indigenous Sengwer tribe.
#WorldImpoverishingBank was trending first on trends map but it’s conspicuously missing on Twitter. But the censoring of the hashtag hasn’t stopped Kenyans from taking a jab at World Bank.
