Toklezea is Now An App
It was one of the biggest songs from last year. Abbas and Chantelle’s Toklezea not only topped charts but also contributed to the lingo. And now there’s an app by the same name whose goal is to build networks around events since events are a big deal among the youth today.
Tokelezea is a social event check in and management suite of applications. In a nutshell it enables one to find out what’s going on around them and locate their friends according to the events they are attending.
The web version of Tokelezea was shortlisted as finalist in the Google Apps Challenge. There is also a mobile web version and an android version currently being beta tested to be released by 3rd November. There’s also an SMS version that earlier this year won the the Kipokezi Hackathon Challenge. The SMS version will be rolled out soon enough so that no one is left out.
Tokelezea works by getting the user location and asking for the category of events they are looking for and then brings back a set of search results starting with the nearest event. Instead of searching for events, alternatively, users can find out the events that their friends are attending and maybe attend them as well.
When one Tokelezeas (checks-in) on an event they can post and consume content ranging from text to pictures and video. This enables them to interact in a Facebook style feed by commenting and liking posts thus adding a social dimension to it and making attending events fun.
Any member can add an event to the site and use the analytics tools built into the web version to track activity on the event. The analytics tools consist of pie charts that show attendance ration by gender, total attendance and ratio of post types.
