Top Afro Fusion Artist Turns To Reggae

Heavily influenced by reggae icons like Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, Alpha Blondie, UB40 and Beres Hammond, Afro fusion musician Abbi is set to make a comeback after being out of action for some time, only this time changing his style to reggae.

Abbi, who will be releasing his third studio album on November 23 at the Alliance Francaise says that his absence from music was because he was concentrating on producing music for other artistes at his Indigo Productions studio. Dubbed “Your Own Way”, the album is influenced heavily by reggae and reveals that it took him 3 years to put it together.

Defending his decision to plunge into reggae music, Abbi says that it’s all about noticing what the people are listening to. Despite the riddim revolution taking over the music scene, Abbi says that he chose to go the roots reggae way for his first reggae release.
