If you want to know what progress is, and the explanation of standing in to represent your people, then you should follow singer turned MP, Robert Kyagulanyi. Famously known as Bobi Wine, The Kyadondo East representative has climbed above the ladder in helping his constituency. He is on a move to make his constituency the greatest.
Bobi Wine was honored to receive the grader which they managed to procure, to make their roads a better one. To him, he will stand for the voices that are unheard, and will continuously fight for freedom.
The grader for Kyadondo East has arrived
ROBERT KYAGULANYI’S POST
“We are on course towards making Kyandondo East a model constituency! Today we received our constituency grader. We purchased it from the funds collected by Kasangati Town Council as property tax together with an offer from the patriotic LC1 Chairpersons of all the 50 villages in Kyadondo who sacrificed immensely towards this cause. I can now authoritatively say that even if we cannot afford tamarc yet, no single road shall remain with a pothole.
We in Kyadondo East Constituency are able to get things done even without the government hand because leaders work together no matter their political shades, we believe our constituency is bigger than our political alignments.”
There is one thing to be musicians, another to be competitors, and the last, to be friends. Bobi Wine has shown us that no matter what we go through, and which side we take, we should always remain friends and collaborate to bring out the best output. He wrote a wonderful message fro Jose Chameleone on his birthday. In it, he recognises Chameleone as the talented singer he is, and shares with us how they have come from way back. Read below;
The two musical legends sharing a moment on stage
BOBI WINE’S MESSAGE
“Happy birthday to this very talented (and troublesome) brother of mine Dr.Jose Chameleon. For us who choose to look at the positive side of you, we love and celebrate you. We have come a long way and still have have a long way to go but with you on the team, Ugandan music is growing from strength to strength. Keep flying our flag high from boarder to boarder. Happy birthday again” #Legend #Champion #AtakoggaAtagejja
Among all the singers that have performed in the West Nile region, I would say this has been the most awaited. Since last year, many expressed their interest in the visit of singer/ Bobi Wine on the stages in Adjumani. He finally landed on Women’s Day and the venue was entirely full.
From a warm welcome on the streets to a long and musical night. There has been two major weaknesses with artists performing in the West Nile Region of Uganda. One is that they re do only songs that do not appeal to the crowd. The crowds are many, but constantly remain dull, regardless of the artist’s efforts. Secondly, they hit the stage late night, and a perform limited number of hits.
Robert Kyagulanyi hit the streets waving the flag of his country
The people wanted and loved Bobi Wine’s sty;e. He did a mashup of all his songs, from the years he started music. “Kamwokya” was one of the hits that stirred up the crowd. The people screamed and sang along with him through the entire chorus. Following the ban of his music from radio stations, Robert Kyagulanyi has been doing tours around the country.
Bobi Wine arrived in Adjumani Town for a great performance
Currently, he has concentrated in creating music that fights for freedom and a better government. This is the channel he has used to drive his political career. Bobi Wine melted the stage with other songs such as Abalungi balumya, Aidah,Mukama Yampa etc.
If there is someone we have all missed then it has got to be singer/ Member of Parliament, Bobi Wine. He has been out of the country meeting Ugandans in Diaspora. The honorable stepped into Uganda, via Entebbe Airport, a few days back. He walked with his wife Barbie by his side.
Bobi Wine sharing with Poeple about Diaspora
Bobi Wine, real names, Robert Kyagulanyi, is famous in the country because of his political belief. He has on several occasions used music to communicate his view on the state of affairs in the country. He is a leader that appeals to not only the youth of the country, but the entire Ghetto community. Robert took his views to another level, when he enrolled for a leadership course at Havard University Keneddy School of Government. With several students shared his view on governance.
He stepped in with his wife Barbie by his side
BOBI WINE IN CARLIFORNIA
On Bobi Wine’s trip to Carlifornia, he shared ideas with different Ugandans abroad on the political, social and economic situation of our country. He posted his gratitude on his Facebook page, to all those that embraced his presence.
“Thank you Carlifornia, it was great catching up with fellow artists and the entire Ugandan community and well wishers in Los Angeles.”
Its a happy year for Robert Kyagulanyi and his family. First, his son Solomon, scores a first grade in Primary Living Examinations, and now his brother, graduates. Bobi Wine was filled with a lot of happiness, and joy, he decided to celebrate with his fans on his Social Media.
“When our mother died in a car accident back in 1997, our last born brother was one year old. God has indeed been faithful. 20 years later, my baby brother graduating with a BBA. Congratulations #DaxVibes upon your win. You continue to rub away our tears and raise our hopes. We are so proud of you. WEBALE BUTANSWAAZA MUGANDA WANGE/ MWANA WANGE”
Bobi Wine alongside his little brother who has just made him proud after graduating with a BBA
The little boy graduated with a Bachelors in Business Administration and made Bobi Wine proud. It was at Makerere University, one of the best and most sounding in the whole of East Africa. The above University released about 14000 students at it’s Freedom Square, this year in it’s 68th ceremony which started on Tuesday, and will be ending tomorrow.
It looks like they indeed come from a family of winners. Congratulations to you Dax Vibes, and to Bobi Wine for being a wonderful leader and role model to the family.
2017 has been a great year, and many celebrities have stayed on top of news tabloids. Here is the list of all those that dominated our wolokoso this year.
Zari Hassan.
Zari the boss lady has gone through alot this year, and we hope 2018 will be a peaceful one for her. From the death of her ex husband and father of her children, to that of her beloved mother. She then had baby mama drama with her husband Diamond Platinumz and a successful Ciroc all white party. She thus had the highest media coverage this year.
Zari the boss lady
Eddy Kenzo
Eddy Kenzo did not shut up after winning an award at the BETs. Even the participation of the Ghetto kids at the award this year, had the tabloids still mention his name. His song Jubilation also consumed the entire country, and stopped him awards, some at AFRIMA2017. This also followed by some rumors about the drama between him and his wife.
Eddy Kenzo
Bobi Wine
The ability to hold two personalities at the same time, one as an MP and the other as an entertainer has made Robert Kyagulanyi a major headline this year. Besides his music, his political ideology surprised many of his fans, and the major support he had from the Ghetto scared his enemies. His children also got a few gigs here and there that got the tabloids writing about him over and over again.
Bobi Wine
Douglas Lwanga
Believe it or not, Douglas has had a great year. His purple party is first of all a he add liner that many wait for. This yet he had amazing news from Yuppyz Clothing, to God Father EAST Africa, and finallu, the awards that he scooped. The NTV presenter has had some media time this year.
Douglas Lwanga
Ykee Benda
There is a way this Kireka Boy just produces hits that whisk the girls away. His former hits are still favourites at many clubs, and he went on to please his fans with more and more music. Ykee Benda also made a wonderful performance at the Coke Studio that had alot of people on the media talking.
Abiriga, Bobi wine and so much more…2017 has been a great year for those that have gained from it and well others haven’t. However there are some that have made.news above others here is a list.
Abiriga.
This guy is no stranger to the headlines this year from his all yellow ensemble to doing “susu” in Kampala central in broad day light.
Abiriga was little known unto he got beaten up in the corridor of the August house.
Hi allegiance to the NRM party color by wearing yellow all day everyday and then his inability to hold hold back urine even at the MoF gate.
There is so much to say about this one but lets leave space for others.
Hon. Kyagulanyi AKA Bobi Wine
He won the parliamentary seat for Kyadondo East and hit the ground running. Well, the parliament could not got to the ghetto so he brought the ghetto to the parliament.
and he brought it ghetto style by beating the living daylights out of security operatives brought in to get opposition parliamentarians out.
Hon Raphael Magezi
His this is the MP who thinks Mzeyi still has stamina and wanted to prove it by making it official. He tabled a motion to remove presidential age limit since his candidate is packing on the Numbers.
People have shed blood and sweat and returned millions of shillings and had grenades thrown at their houses for this. let us see what 2018 holds.
We heard from our sources one time, that Solomon Kampala, the son to Bobi Wine wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps. He had expressed interest in joining the music industry, but wanted to put books and education before anything. Indeed Solomon, has an amazing voice and will do great in the Music industry.
A video of him singing to his father’s song, Superwoman, where he refers her mother to this, has surfaced.
Let’s show you the future of Ugandan music. His name is Solomon Kampala. Hon @HEBobiwine son. On top of being a very bright boy you should listen to his voice too. Let’s salute the mum Barbie for a job well done.
We can hear his beautiful voice, and see his confidence and audibility in music. Indeed his mother should be proud for raising him.
MUSICAL BACKGROUND
Solomon’s Father, Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine is also popular artiste in the country. His music started way back when he was living in the slums of Uganda. He founded the Ghetto empire, and empowered many youth to get empowered through the music industry, hence his title as Ghetto president.
Bobi Wine’s music projects and displays the problems of society. Majority of his songs also talk about the state of the life people are living in, or go through on a day to day basis. Some of his hits include Kiwani, Abalungi balumya, Kikomando, Specioza, Freedom, and many others. He is not shy about where he comes from because he knows that his final point will be different. His videos also show the state of the Ghetto society.
Solomon’s father
Bobi Wine’s song Super Woman, that Solomon was recorded singing to, was made featuring Nubian.
Bobi Wine encourages his children to express their talents and be who they want to be. This explains why Solomon loves his music. Good luck in your music Solomon. We are behind you with all the support.
Musician/ Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine is one man who always advocates for the massess. He is for the people, and always fighting for freedom. He has made his views known to the public, about the current Slave Trade in Lybia.
On his Facebook he posted;
***MODERN DAY SLAVE TRADE*** I am appalled at the reports of modern day slave trade, happening in 2017 on the African continent. Men, women and children are auctioned like cows and goats in Libyan markets. We all thought this ended with our forefathers from the 16th century to the 19th century when it was abolished.
HUMANITY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF ITSELF!
The most sickening thing about this is the silence of this world about such a thing. You and I cannot pretend that this is not happening. Media houses are silent. The Africa Union and other regional bodies are speaking in low tones.
Slaves
This shocking reality, disgusting as it is should not be downplayed. World- RISE UP, SPEAK UP, ACT. Together let us condemn those heartless beasts who profit from human slavery.
Friends, there is another angle to this. These people who are being sold, tortured and killed are young Africans who see Libya as a route to Europe looking for a better life. Africa is a beautiful place with enormous enormous potential. Endowed with great natural and human resource. Sadly, most of this is not optimally utilised, with most countries being mismanaged by our leaders. We must rethink how to create jobs for our people and make continent attractive to all citizens. There is no reason why the African should be subjected to so much indignity looking for a better life in Europe.
We must also remember that this is happening in Libya because of the failure of the state and gross insecurity in that country. We all remember how Libya got there. Leaders should always be very reflective of what country they would want to leave behind and work towards that. When a leader waits to be forcefully kicked out of power, it is not only him, his family, and cronies who get into trouble, but many times the consequences are even worse for their countries and people. #Freedom
Bobi Wine has been living two lives for the past months since he became the Member of Parliament for Kyadondo East. He is Robert Kyagulanyi, the fearless, straight to the point politician, and Bobi Wine, the talented, and much loved music artiste.
Bobi Wine
There have been claims that the two personalities are getting mixed up, hence calling for a ban on Bobi Wine’s music performances, and media interviews.
The Togikwatako crowd
Bobi Wine / Robert Kyagulanyi is not giving up. He is not threatened by anything, and has just now shown the world that both his personalities can coexist.
The musician in him has released a song, “Freedom” and the politician has written the lyrics that describe the current rule in Uganda.
The Togikwatako Master, sings about our fight for Freedom, and the chorus counts the. districts of Uganda to join the fight for freedom;
We are fighting for freedom; Kampala mukono Mbale Jinja
We are fighting for freedom; Kabale Rukungiri Mbarara Kasese
We are fighting for freedom; soroti kit arua lira gulu
We are fighting for freedom; Wakiso masaka mubende mityana
The rhythm in the song, and the lyrics are top notch. It also goes on to discuss how the oppression is worse than apartheid, and Uganda is moving backwards. Download this song whereva you are.
Barbie Kyagulanyi, wife to Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi has confessed to doing most of her shopping in Owino Market.
Unlike what many may perceive as a life of luxury where she doesn’t go even close to down town, barbie says even back then, her and fellow slay queens of those days braved the morning rain and mud to scuffle for mivumba.
Barbie took to Facebook to make the confession adding that it put her in trouble with her “high class” friends for letting out the secret.
She says that even to this day,she still occasionally goes to Owino to get some cute clothing.
But are we surprised? Barbie has remained one of the most down to earth celebrities we know to-date.
Members of Parliament were given money, in order to buy their support for the pro removal of age limit campaign.
The money given to the MPS was to help them in consultations about the age limit bill, in their different constituencies. This Constitution Ammendment Bill is in line with removal of the presidential age limit, which is currently from 35 to 75, hence allowing life presidency.
Six opposition Members of Parliament had initially rejected this money, calling it dirty, and recently, more and more are joining.
MPS returning what they called dirty money
If you thought it was not possible for anyone in their rightful senses to reject a sum of twenty nine million Uganda Shillings, we have evidence from Hon Robert Kyagulanyi.
The letter to the bank
While other Members of parliament took the money in cash to the Finance Officer. Bobi Wine/ Robert Kyagulanyi sent a letter back to his bank, rejecting the money, a sum of 29,000,000, before heading of to consult his people on the bill.
Bobi Wine’s people
He then proceeded to his people, dressed in a red togikwatako uniform, and addressed them on this removal.
Besides Bobi Wine, other opposition legislators have also refused to be part of the move to support this bill.
We all saw this coming, but not this soon. Member of Parliament, Hon, Robert Kyagulanyi, who is a proud opposition, and not shy to express his views, is being punished because of scratching the leopards back.
Him and the president have been having a letter writing competition, that received comments from Ugandans all over the country. The Musician is very determined to use music and arts to fight for the rights of his people. In addition to this, his concerts always draw crowds of Ugandans, large enough to fill two football stadiums.
One love Beach concert
Recently, he held a concert at “One love Beach”, Busabala, and the police claim that he uttered “incitful language”. Word coming in is that Bobi Wine turned the Music show into a political rally. He was thus banned from performing at music concerts.
Bobi Wine banned from concerts
All this came right before the Singer/ MP went to his concert in Mukono. It was set for 21st October but stopped by the Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander, Frank Mwesigwa. He was then asked to go to Kibuli Police to address the claims. Here are some of the answers Bobi Wine has.
Letter summoning Bobi WIne
“Returning to the illegal and unconstitutional ban of my music concerts, this too is a sign of a regime on its knees. Throughout history, when dictatorships realize that the people have resoundingly rejected them, they resort to all forms of unreasonable and autocratic laws to silence dissent. So far they have cancelled three of my shows one in Kasese, another in Kamuli and now in Mukono. For the past two shows we had obtained all the clearances, only to be told on last minute that I would not be allowed to perform in the fear that I would utter some ‘political statements’! “
Some of the crowds Bobi Wine draws
“I have said this to them in private and I repeat it in public- I Kyagulanyi Ssentamu – Bobi Wine, shall never sell my soul to the devil. I shall never use my voice to sing for a dictatorship that is running our country to hell. I shall never sing to console the enemies of the people. I shall never use my voice to betray my country. And yes, I shall always sing about the plight of our people. Their voice shall be my voice. I shall always sing for a better Uganda, because friends, this is the only home we have- whatever is still left of it, we are Ugandans”
Guess we will just have to wait to watch him perform live again.
Its throwback Thursday and we are looking back at the Ugandan songs that grew us. Where were you?
Kipepeo by Jose Chameleone
This song is a true classic many of us did our ‘creative dances’ in primary school to this one.
Eno mic by Ziggy Dee
This song got many of us beaten for singing it. Nonetheless we gyrated and still sang aloud.
Omwana Wabandi by Bobi Wine
None other than the good old days of the honorable himself. This song reintroduced the era of Calypso to the Ugandan music scene. Never forget.
Nabikoowa by Juliana Kanyomozi
Nothing beats this throwback from the youthful queen of Ugandan Music. Nabikoowa was an anthem for broken hearts countrywide so why not bring it back.
All i wanna know by klear kut feat Julianna
You can not claim to know hip hop in Uganda if you don’t know this song by klear kut. This was an anthem for the ‘rich kids’ in kabojja and Aga khan where Navio went to school and also features a young ‘the mith’ and Shanice Kacungira as a video vixen. Its one to watch.
So, after Museveni wrote a letter to Bobi Wine, and got his reply, the news has calmed down a little. Now, Andrew Mwenda, owner of the Independent newspaper, a journalist who came into popularity due to his show, ”Andrew Mwenda Live’, due to the strong political views has analysed one of Kyagulanyi’s letters. Here are some of the things he said. Read below;
So Bobi Wine issued a “letter to Young Ugandans” in which he claims that colonialism marked Uganda’s golden age. This is the problem with President Yoweri Museveni’s critics – always ignorant and emotional and their arguments always lack substance in both matter and manner.
I really don’t want to defend Museveni because I personally disagree with him on many issues.
I will address Museveni’s deficiencies another day.
Bobi wine and his crowds
The real danger to Uganda today is not Museveni but an extremist and fanatical wing of the opposition led by FDC cult leader and opposition presidential candidate for life, Kizza Besigye, and lately joined by Bobi Wine. These are emotional desperadoes without any clue of where Uganda has come from, where it is and where it should go.
Let us address Bobi Wine’s hare brained uninformed assertions. He claims that colonialism left behind a well functioning education. In 1961, only 343 students were unrolled in S5 and S6 in a country of 7m people. If such a rate was maintained Uganda today would have 2,225 students in A Level. We have 235,000. And he claims colonialism was the golden age of Uganda.
Bobi Wine also claims colonialism left behind great infrastructure. In 1960, Uganda had only 268km of tarmac after 72 years of colonial rule. The short lived DP government led by Kiwanuka added 210km in one year. Obote added 1,000km in eight years 1962-71. In spite of his government incompetence and corruption, Museveni has in the last i years added 4000km of tarmac. So what is this Bobi Wine really talking about?
This “leader” of the youth of Uganda even claims that under colonial rule a child in a rural primary school would fairly compete with one in the city. But there were no schools in rural areas under colonial rule. If he meant in towns outside of kampala, he should check the 2016 PLE results. The ten best performing districts or towns in order of their performance were: Fort Portal, Entebbe, Ntungamo, Rukungiri, Jinja, Kabale, Masaka, Mbarara, Lira and Masindi. Many of these are far away from Kampala, a city that is not one of them.
Many Ugandan elites are lazy. They don’t want to read and know about their country. They prefer to sit in their homes and imagine things and then hope that such imagination is reality. In the modern age of science, it is sad that those who want to replace Museveni think that they can rely on hallucinations to inform public policy. Our country deserves better. Bobi Wine may be a good singer and dancer. But his “letter to young Ugandans” shows that he lacks the basic competences to even manage a village.
The Uganda Entertainment Awards Gospel Artiste of the year, Levixone is doing something that will please God to the maximum.
Gospel artiste Levixone
From his big heart, he has arranged for a charity event . The gospel artiste has seen a need to help the less privileged, and chosen the people of Karamoja. He is a politician and a musician but still has enough time for his family. We all know that earlier this month, Hon Robert Kyagulanyi and Barbie Itungo’s daughter Shalom turned 9.
Bobi and his girls
Well these amazing parents could not let it go unnoticed. They both wrote a wonderful Facebook post for their baby. Bobi Wine penned down;
Happy Birthday my dearest Shalom Namagembe. It’s 9 years since you came into my life but it feels like only yesterday. I pray that the good Lord protects you from all evil as you grow. Much love from Mom. Dad and all your siblings.
Selfie time
Barbie also wrote;
Namagembe my love; what better day to celebrate you other than the 4th of October this year? You are alive to see your 9th birthday today! Happy birthday our Shalom. We bless God for your presence in our lives.
party time
Barbie also added another post on top of the one she wrote on her birthday.
Lives worth celebrating. Happy belated birthdays Ssubi and Shalom. May you live full lives. We had a fun day today.
The family then threw for their girls a lovely birthday party on Sunday, and shared more than enough love. Happy belated birthday again, girls. Enjoy the amazing photographs from the party.
Bobi Wine is being squeezed from all corners of the earth. After his patriotic videos that were released to the country, His challenging speeches and Facebook posts, and the defense he gave in Parliament with a red hair band tied to his head, it looks like he is being hunted down.
First he was arrested, then grenades thrown on his compound, and later on at his children’s bedrooms. Honorable Robert Kyagulanyi has also been arrested countless times ever since he became a member of parliament.
Word coming in is that the home and office of his public Relation’s manager, Ms. Anne Whitehead was to be searched. Apparently the Police and the Immigration office wanted to look through so as to investigate the presence of money links and review her financial statements.
Bobi and PR manager
Ms. Anne Whitehead has been at the back of the MP from the time he was ghetto based and still a music artiste
When the musician/ MP wrote a response to president Museveni this year, there were rumors that Ms Anne Whitehead could have had a hand in it. However, the lady denied the claims and allegations.
The search was to take place yesterday afternoon, at both her residence and company, Whitehead Communications. We are still wondering whether it could be a way of discovering whether she is a financial sponsor to Bobi Wine.
Bobi Wine in Mubende
However, later on in the night, the news that came indicated that the immigration officer who has ordered for the search did not show up. When called, his phone was also not answered. Let us wait for the story to unfold.
It has been a sad few days at the home of the Kyagulanyis but all that is bound to change.
The family
4th October is a day of celebration. We all know that the family has four children, Shalom, Shadrack, Solomon and Suubi and today, Shalom, one of their daughters, and the oldest of the girls turns nine years old. Daddy’s little girl is growing very fast, and will soon be a young woman. On her 8th Birthday last year, her father posted;
Daddy Daughter time
Happy 8th birthday dear Shalom Namagembe Nalunkuuma. The female version of me and the representation of my mother. I love you beyond measure. May the Lord watch over you as you grow up into a Ugandan that we can all be proud of. Happy birthday again.”
This time, her mummy, Barbie Itungo Kyagulanyi woke up very early in the morning and posted;
“Namagembe my love; what better day to celebrate you than the 4th October this year, You are alive today to see your 9th Birthday! Happy Birthday Shalom. We bless God for your presence in our lives.”
Shalom means peace, and Namagembe is also a very wonderful big sister to the little one and last born, Ssubi.
The girls
She is very bubbly, and smiley, and loves to take a lot of videos with her father. Happy Birthday Shalom, may you live to blow a gazillion candles, and grow up to be beautiful, caring, supportive and strong like your mother.
