Gaagaa Buses Back on The road

For those traveling to the Northern part of the country, the pressure is about to be reduced. A few days back, the manager of Gaagaa Buses, James Nyakuni announced on NTV news, that they will be resuming their work on the road. The Transport Licensing Board has lifted the one-month ban on the bus company, as they have satisfied all the conditions presented to them.

Some of these conditions include the following. Gaagaa Buses had to undergo road worthiness inspection and all the drivers were to be re-tested. From what we know, the bus company managed to check their buses and test their drivers. About twenty drivers passed the first stage of the test, and the Bus company is waiting for the second lot to sit. Our sources also report that the ban has been reduced, simply because of continuous negotiations with government.

Gaagaa Buses were banned from the road after three consecutive accidents, on the same highway. This claimed the lives of over twenty people, leaving many others injured and hospitalized.

Gaagaa Bus License Suspended

Following the recent Gaagaa bus accident, everyone is still disturbed by the mystery surrounding the company. One of Uganda’s bodies has come out to act, to protect the people.  Our sources report that The Ministry of Works and Transport through the Transport  Licensing Board has suspended the licence for the bus company for one month over various issues.

Gaagaa has numerous times been involved in accidents, the worst being one that led to the loss of lives of over 20 people in Kiryandongo. It is said that during this time, all their drivers should be re-tested, and their buses shoould be checked.

In May this Year, Gaaga Bus, traveling from Kampala to Lira was involved in a nasty accident, that claimed the lives of over 20 people. Many others were injured, and admitted in Kiryandongo Hospital, some even seeking intensive surgeries. It is just a few weeks later, and the Bus has once again gotten another accident at almost the same place in Kiryandongo.

This mysterious situation is raising a lot of questions, as to why it was in the same location, Nanda. From different sources, it is said that the driver had wanted to overtake two vehicles at ago, and found itself in a nasty accident. The bus company has had many accidents, some dating back to three years ago. In 2014, seven people dies on the spot after a collusion of the bus with another vehicle. The same bus also blew up into flames once, but no person was reported dead. In 2012, six people were reported dead in an accident by the same bus company. Many people are now threatening to boycott using it, if an official explanation is not released.
