Sheeba Karungi dominates HiPipo Awards

Singer Sheebah Karungi  and other big artistes like Bebe Cool, Chameleone, Juliana Kanyomozi, Cindy, Rema Namakula and Eddy Kenzo didn’t attend the annual HiPipo Music Awards. They were held at Kampala Serena Hotel on Saturday 17 March.

 

Sheebah was the biggest winner of the night despite not appearing at the ceremony.

 

Her “Karma Album” scooped the Album Of The Year,  “Binkolera”, a collabo with The Ben from Rwanda took best  the International collabo, Female artiste of the year and she was also the overall winner, Artiste of the year.

 

Fik Fameica, Nessim,  Navio, Late Mowzey Radio, Selector Jay were among the other winners.

 

The highlight of the night was when singer Mary Bata  was announced as the winner of the Best Band song beating Carol Nantongo and Eddy Yawe whose “Tukigaale”  hit rocked airwaves after becoming a household anthem. This attracted criticism from both media and the fans.

 

They were overheard complaining that she didn’t deserve the award.

Bryan white warns Musicians on singing about him

Upcoming musician, Lucky Costa decided to ride on Bryan White wing of fame and compose a song about him. He is now accusing Bryan  of failing to pay him for his performance at the launch of Bryan White Foundation in Mbarara last week.

Costa alleges that Bryan White is cheater , liar, and masquerader.

This has annoyed Bryan White and  in response,  he has ordered that no musician should sing about him.

Costa sang a song for Bryan  White he named, “Hero” for which he demands payment. However  Bryan White says Costa did so without his permission.

Hero is a song about how great the tycoon is even when he was in prison for alleged murder.

“The only song I know is Kilimanyi by Weasel, Cindy and Michael,” says Bryan White.

Rebecca Jjingo reveals pregnancy in church Service

Singer Rebecca Jjingo is reportedly pregnant! According to rumour, Jjingo broke news during a church service. She reportedly revealed that a bun was baking during the church’s testimony hour.

“ I have praying hard to conceive and have a child also. God blessed me with two blessings a loving man and this child I am currently carrying”, she stated.

She further went to throw jibes at her ex, Joel Isabirye for the way he treated her.

“ There is no woman who can hold up such expensive functions I did with Joel and then run away from her marriage. Joel has ill manners that I could no longer stand,” she revealed.

Joel Isabirye and Jjingo were married in 2013 but the marriage fell apart shortly after. She claims he forbid her from caring for her ailing father and performing at her musical shows. On the other hand Joel claimed disrespect from her end and it was on inevitable break up from then on.

 

 

 

 

We however wish her all the best on her new journey.

Sheebah Karungiwarned on indecent dressing

Singer Sheebah Karungi could see her worst days coming her way after enjoying years of success.

 

News reaching our desk indicates that the “Nkwatako” hitmaker who prefers to make public appearances in semi-naked outfits could face jail anytime soon.

 

Our snoops have learnt that the Pornographic Control Committee issued a warning to Sheebah to rectify her indecent dressing or else risk several years in jail.

 

While addressing the media, the committee chairperson Annet Kezabu said, ” I saw a picture of Sheebah and she was naked. She was only wearing a net with a swimming costume but even the costume was transparent. These are some of the people we are going to go after. We need to wake up and fight this monster. Porn is a monster.”

 

She also warned all other musicians from dressing indecently during a press conference in Kalangala.

 

It is remembered that this committee was inaugurated by Ethics and Integrity minister Simon Lokodo in August 2017 to prevent the use and spread of pornographic materials and information.

Barbie jay defends himself in cheating scandal- “we have all did it”

Singer Barbie Jay of the ‘Sumbusa’ fame was caught red-handed pants down with a woman in his car in the depth of the night. He has come out to defend himself in the most hilarious way.

Using the popular ‘did it’ phrase, he explains that in the end, we will all did it!

On the other hand, his “wife” is not having it easy. When the News broke, she took to Facebook to express her pain after just a week of giving birth to their son.

She was immediately consoled by her friends who told her to be strong even though her husband had strayed.

Tumwine Justus advised, “But in times of challenges just pray and avoid drinking, because it will hurt u more” while George Mwiine said, “Bambi sorry. Stay strong everything is gonna be alright.”

A couple of Ugandans girls begun trending the hashtag #FinePeopleFromUganda on Twitter and boy did it blow up.
The girls pulled out all their best filtered pictures, Light and brows on fleek to show how surely Uganda is blessed.

However when the Ugandan girls that are currently living out of Uganda begun posting theirs, it was obvious their colleagues back home had been dethroned.

A one user @MaaniTheMenace tweeted this pick of “grownish” actor Yara Shahidi to fit in the thread. He however got busted when the actor herself retweeted the post saying “Hey Cousin”.

Fik Fameica and Apass new project with South African rapper

Rumor had it that budding Kutama star Fik Fameica was joining Muyenga based Swangz Avenue. This was after pictures of him signing papers in the boss’s office went viral but this has turned out to be fake news.

The real story is that Fik Fameica and Apass got a deal to collaborate with a SouthAfrican Rapper called Rouge.

Photos have surfaced of them shooting a video in Uganda for the upcoming project with her SouthAfrican crew.

After the success of Fik Fameica’s Kutama and Apass’ dididada they are soaring the heights.

Rema Amazes at her sold out Serena Concert

Rema left critics shocked after her Serena concert was sold out leaving many of her fans stuck outside.

By 8pm, doors to Serena’s Victoria hall were closed while the masses of fans were informed that tickets were finished. Being a relatively “young” Artist in the industry, many doubted her ability to hold a maiden concert of her own.

Rema made it a point to say to her haters “i did it!” as soon as she stepped on stage. And she did not disappoint. She put up a spirited performance of all her hits including Banyabo, Lean on me, Oli wange and the much anticipated Linda with Chris Evans.

The VIP section was packed to capacity with high profile guests like Buganda’s Katikkiro Peter Mayiga, General Katumba Wamala and others.

Her attires were on point with various wardrobe changes throughout the night. She was flanked by fellow Artists, Kenzo, Ykee benda and Myko Ouma.

Needless to say, the concert was more than  a success.

Congs Rema!

Africa Music Industry Awards coming to Uganda.

The Africa Music industry Awards are the latest thing hapening on Uganda’s entertainment scene.

Just last year, Bebe Cool stated that he doesn’t want to be part of any local awards and before the dust could even settle, more acts like Ykee Benda have asked to be excluded from events like the HiPipo awards.

This makes the entry of the Africa Music Industry Awards, a people’s choice kind of event an interesting one. The show that in 2017 happened in Las Vegas, USA has taken a bold move to launch on the continent and choosing Uganda as the first host of what they claim will become Africa’s version of the Grammy Awards.

Slated for March 24 at Serena Hotel’s Victoria Hall, the show has already released a nomination list made up of 30 categories and more than 100 African acts like Nyashinki, C4 Pedro, Koffi Olomide, Yemi Alade and Ali Kiba among others.

Ugandan acts like B2C, Bebe Cool, Eddy Kenzo, Sheebah and Lydia Jasmine, too, make the cut.

According to Stella Nantumbwe, Vice President Africa Music Industry Awards, the nominations were mostly made based on the music people have and how the general African audience is consuming it.

They have also put together a performers’ line up that features acts like Lizha James, Sarkodie, Fabregas and Nandy among others.

There have been concerns about why there are no Ugandan performers yet and the organisers have noted that more acts are yet to be announced.

Much as the Kampala edition will be the second one the organizers will be holding, they are yet to make a splash with advertising and promotion especially with a fact that the event is only days away.

Jenny Nasasira Beats Bettina Tianah to the God father reality Show

Former NTV About Town presenter  Jenny Nasasira could be destined for greater things. The glamour girl beat  Bettinah Tianah to earn a slot in the upcoming reality TV show ‘God Father East Africa’.

Nominations were released earlier this year the shortlisted candidates to take part in the East African show.

Bettinah  had received an earlier nomination and things seemed all in her favour before Jenny saw off the competition.

Jenny will be representing Uganda alongside UK based TV host Vanny K, Ivan Kavuma, and Keith Karuhura. The reality show consists of contestants from East African countries and is set to air later this month.

According to sources, the show will air for three months where the the winner will walk away Shs85m richer.

Irene Namubiru, Daxx Kartel sign concert deal for south Africa

Songstress Irene Namubiru and one hit wonder, Daxx Kartel could have their broke days as history.

News reaching our desk is that the two have signed a juicy deal to perform in South Africa.

The two were booked by a Ugandan promoter based in South Africa.

This promoter is known as Twaha, a CEO of Multi-National Events Company, Icy Studios based in South Africa.

The show has been dubbed, “Ekkivulu Ekiguĺawo Omwaka” and will take place at Randburg Mabaleng Sports Club.

While speaking to Howwe, Twaha told our reporter that he chose the two artists over the current hot cakes in the industry because they had hits before and they have been silent which caused their high demand in South Africa.

B2C change concert date

B2C singers, Julio, Bobby Lash and Mr Lee have shifted their concert date from Saturday, September 1st to Friday, August 31st. They have however maintained the same venue, Freedom City, Namasuba along Entebbe road.

This is intended to bring out the best and right performances from the singers according to their manager.

It is no secret that these boys have had incredible success in their first year. they have had a collabo with Radio and weasel which was one of their biggest hits.

We have also been informed that preparations are in high gear at the camp and a new music video will be dropping every month until concert date.

But the real question is, Is the group ready yet for a concert after being on the music scene for barely two years?

In Uganda standards, Artisits like BebeCool have made it in life but according to the world they are nothing.

The “Love You Everyday” hitmaker is currently on his knees asking for recognition and love from Black Panther, Lupita Nyongo, who hails from Kenya.

Through his twitter handle, he asked Lupita to show some love to him and fellow singer, Jose Chameleone. Their poster appears on the background wall of Lupita’s photo.

How it went down at Club Amnesia with Sheeba Karungi

Friday night was lit at club Amnesia  as Team No Sleep Queen Sheebah Karungi gave revellers a show of their lifetime.

The highly successful artiste made her way to the club for a scheduled performance for a mammoth crowd that had turned up despite the cold weather.

Sampling many of her songs, Sheebah was able to get everyone on their feet dancing. Her outfit left little to imagination as fans saw, touched and enjoyed their stars.

As we may all know by now, Sheebah has made it this far because she never disappoints.

‘I get 9M per show” Anita Fabiola says about Katch Up

Anita Fabiola claims that she travels to the United States every week after hosting Katch Up, a show on NBS TV.

She says everything is sponsored by her boyfriend in the USA. “He is an NBA player and we are deeply in love. I am ready to settle but I cannot reveal his identity for now,” she asserts. She has also been famously linked to Ed Cheune of the rich Gang who showered her with lavish gifts.

Fabiola has never been shy to show her lavish life style on Instagram but most especially her trip to the NBA stadium.

She adds that she had decided to live abroad but when she got the Nbs job, she decided to return to Uganda.

“The deal was so tempting, I could not resist. I get 9M per show,” she alleges.

Previously, Fabiola worked with NTV Uganda but she was fired after her nude pictures leaked to the public. Many were disappointed with the lack of the volumptous hips that graced the be my Date Show. Butas it is seems, they have finally grown.

Xfm’s Moses Rudende is NBS’ newest import

Seasoned Radio host Rudende who has been working with Vision Group’s XFM has reportedly crossed to Nbs where he will be presenting a business show.

He becomes the latest import to the fastest growing Media organization in Uganda at the moment. Nbs has been known for poaching talent from other media houses especially NTV which has lost at least ten of their anchors and presenters.

Moles have gathered that the morning show host tendered in his resignation at XFM and is already preparing to hit the screens. Rudende has been part of the Morning show trio with Libolo and Siima for almost 5 years.

In Opting for a business show we believe he is amping up his CV for the next big thing,BBC Perharps.

This however maybe a big blow to the show since his counterpart Siima Sabiti  pulled for a higher post as Flair Magazine’s Editor in chief after Keturah Kamugasa’s Death.

Weasel postpones US trip

When Goodlyfe management announced they had ended their relationship with Bryan White, it was relayed he’d go to US for a short vacation as he heals from the wounds caused about by the death of his singing partner, Mowzey Radio.

The vacation has however been postponed after reconciling with Bryan White who is going to keep him busy doing charitable causes.

“Weasel is currently going to USA to recover,” read a statement shared on the Radio and Weasel official page.

Latest on the grapevine is that Weasel has pushed it to next month.

Eddie Kenzo Nominated in the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards

Eddie Kenzo Has been making it big for the motherland and now theres yet another milestone.  Nickelodeon on Monday unveiled the nominees for its upcoming Kids’ Choice Awards on march 4.

The Big Talent Boss and Singer Eddy Kenzo is nominated in these awards. He is nominated alongside other African stars like Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Caster Semenya (South Africa), Davido (Nigeria), Emmanuella (Nigeria), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania).

“I’m so happy to be nominated in Nickelodeon awards 2018,From Masaka to Hollywood; God is great and this is for all of us if Ugandan music is to go to the top” Says Kenzo.

He won his first international Award at the BET Awards for the best international star, Africa.

He will rub shoulders with Big Celebrities such as John Cena who is the host of the show.

Shots Fired! Bebecool says Weasel was just Radio’s Escort.

Singer Moses Ssali alias Bebe Cool has alleged that singer Weasel can’t remain musically relevant after the death of his singing partner, Mowzey Radio.

While appearing on talk and talk show at Bat Valley Theatre, Bebe Cool claimed that Radio was the singer and Weasel was just an escort.

After the death of Radio who was his singing Partner, many have been vocal about weasel’s next step since he has been in the duo for 10 years.

“Radio was the musician and Weasel was just an escort,” Bebe Cool fired shots at Weasel.

He added, ” Let us wait for his new songs. Let him sing again and we see. Radio was the vocalist.”

It is very clear that there is bad blood between  Weasel and Bebe Cool.

In January,  Weasel advised Bebe Cool to just go and bake cakes with his wife, Zuena instead of sounding like Fik Femeica in “Katono”.

Herbert Shonga Goes flat broke, sells off Space Bar

Herbert Shonga whose bar business has since its birth been struggling has finally suffered the final blow after closing for three months. Herbert has finally admitted to failing and decided to sell of the bar to yet unknown persons.

 It is no secret that his estranged wife was the financial muscle of the two. And as they say, he decided to bite the hand that fed him by cheating with the Bar’s PR officer. Of course a woman scorned, Dorothy withdrew her income and let him struggling for the past couple of months.

For this couple that splashed their love all over social media like a tornado, it is sad to see how far down they have revolved.

Dorothy in a recent post indicated she was searching seems to be on her way to a divorce office. Whoever she is searching for knows what he is going in for.
