Thanks to records and flash back Friday,\u00a0 we bring back to the good old days of Kampala in the 1960s<\/p>\n<p>1. Kampala road<\/p>\n<p>This is the business hub of the city with new buildings springing up everyday but what did it look like way back when only the rich had cars.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/01\/Kampala_Road_1950s.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18008\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/01\/Kampala_Road_1950s.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"317\" height=\"186\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And here is Kampala road now<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/01\/images-13.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18007\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/01\/images-13.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Looking at the above pictures can you imagine roads with no jam or taxis, or Boda Boda?<\/p>\n<p>2. Rubaga cathedral<\/p>\n<p>Looking at the achievements of the Catholics including banks and hospitals but most importantly the cathedral on Rubaga hill.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_18016\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18016\" style=\"width: 274px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/01\/images-9.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18016\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/01\/images-9.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"274\" height=\"184\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-18016\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rubaga cathedral in the 1960&#8217;s<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>And here is the magnificent cathedral now.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/01\/images-10.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18012\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghafla.co.ke\/ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/01\/images-10.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"274\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Looking at the pictures side by side you can see that the architecture was conceptualized way back when and the vision has been maintained.<\/p>\n<p>3. Makerere university<\/p>\n<p>At least 70% of Ugandas graduates have gone through makerere university and it still continues to be the country&#8217;s most prestigious school.
