“We Were in a Restaurant and I Just Started to Cry….I Just Couldn’t Understand” Elani’s Maureen Kunga Opens Up like Never Before #CokeStudioAfrica
Is it just me or does every successful story start with such a gut wrenching beginning? I mean look at every successful person and what they must have gone through before reaching their destination. Sadly, it was not different for Kenya’s cooler than cool band, Elani.
The 3 member group consisting of Brian, Wambui and Maureen really went through quite the hassle before they could start producing the massive hits that always get our ears glued and do rounds across major airwaves.
Before all the attention, the fortune and fame, they went through a hard time trying to get their music out there to the masses. This they opened up during yet another session of Coke Studio Tales which is part of the amazing Coke Studio Africa music fusion which goes down every Sunday night at 8 PM on Citizen TV.
Maureen specifically talked about where their musical journey started, from Alliance Francaise and how they got signed into a label which promised them heaven on earth only drop to them later on with nothing…even a goddamn explanation.
She went ahead to narrate how the unfortunate happening of events broke her and she couldn’t help but cry. Check them out here as they narrate more:
