Young, Gorgeous and Ambitious, Meet the Kenyan Teenager the Fashion World Cannot Stop Talking About After She Caused Ripples on the Gucci Runway (Photos)

Is there an industry that Kenyans are not able to penetrate and dominate? If Kenyans are not winning their Oscars, they are swooping in and grabbing all the medals at athletic championship or ruling the fashion world.

A few years ago, Kenyan born, British-raised Malaika Firth became the first black model in almost 20 years to appear in a Prada advert since Naomi Campbell in 1994. She went on to land more deals with Versace, Victoria Secret and even Burberry.

And soon, another ambitious Kenyan will be joining her in the big league, her name; Nicole Atieno who is signed to Supreme Paris and Wilhelmina modeling agencies.

She is part of Gucci’s latest faces that walked down the runway during Milan Fashion Week for their Spring 2016 collection.

And Vogue Magazine had very flowery things to say about the model. Writing this “Some girls are born for the runway—elegant Kenyan Atieno is one of them. Already capable of a killer catwalk strut, Atieno is following in the footsteps of her model mom and aims to “take Milan by storm.”
