Your Popular Racing Game is Set to Become a Movie

Arguably the most popular racing game not just in Kenya but across the world, the Need For Speed franchise has been going strong on electronic games purchases since its introduction in 1994 by Distinctive Software, which is now Electronic Arts Canada.

The Need For Speed offerings have been split across three distinct generations. The first wave was from Need for Speed (1994) up until NFS: Hot Pursuit 2 (2002). The second wave was NFS: Underground (2003) till NFS: Undercover (2008) and the final third generation was spread across NFS: Shift (2009) till NFS: The Run (2011).

The secret to Electronics Art massive success is the fact that they spread production of subsequent series across various studios, with EA Black Box’s Senior Producer Jason Long stating that NFS: The Run is of the highest production quality a game can be.

Well, lovers of the franchise will be delighted to know that Need for Speed is becoming a movie. According to Perez Hilton, the company has enlisted ‘Real Steel’ writer John Gatins to develop a story line for the racing game.

Need For Speed is the most successful racing video game in the world and as of October 2009, over 100 million copies of the game have been sold worldwide.
