Kanyari and Mosiria clash over Sheryl Gabriella’s nudes
Salvation Healing Ministry founder Pastor Victor Kanyari has defended content creator Sheryl Gabriella following the circulation of her private videos online, urging Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement Geoffrey Mosiria to stop calling for her arrest.
Speaking during a church service on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, Kanyari argued that Sheryl should not face public condemnation or legal threats over intimate videos that were allegedly leaked by a former boyfriend without her consent.
According to the controversial preacher, the videos were never intended for public viewing but had been shared privately with someone she trusted before their relationship ended.
“She is called Sheryl Gabriella. Do you all know her? She was exposed after videos of her without clothes were leaked. She had sent those videos to her boyfriend, but they fell out and the boyfriend exposed them by posting them on social media for everyone to see. He wanted people to see her body,” Kanyari said.
‘She Shouldn’t Be Shamed’
Kanyari acknowledged that some people close to him might disagree with his decision to comment on the matter, but said he could not remain silent while a young woman continued to face public ridicule.
“Let me talk because I know my secretary will also stop me from talking about this,” he remarked.
The pastor went on to claim that sharing intimate photos or videos with a romantic partner is more common than many people admit, arguing that Sheryl should not be singled out over the incident.
“Let me tell you, there is no one who does not have photos of themselves without clothes or has never sent them to a partner. So I don’t see anything bad or any reason to throw shade at this girl,” he said.
He described the incident as a personal mistake that should not define Sheryl’s life and urged Kenyans to respond with compassion rather than judgment.
“No, that is just a weakness. It’s a problem like any other, and every person has a weakness,” he added.
Message to Geoffrey Mosiria
Kanyari also addressed Geoffrey Mosiria directly, asking him to withdraw his calls for investigations that could lead to Sheryl’s prosecution.
“So Mosiria, I heard your statements. Stop it and stop calling for her arrest. Leave her alone and let her live her life,” he said.
Mosiria’s Position
Kanyari’s remarks come days after Mosiria called on security agencies and cybercrime investigators to probe the circumstances surrounding the circulation of explicit videos allegedly linked to Sheryl Gabriella.
In a video shared on his social media platforms, Mosiria said that if investigations established the content had been willingly created and shared in violation of Kenyan law, the relevant authorities should take appropriate legal action.
He cited Section 181 of the Penal Code, which criminalises the distribution or public exhibition of obscene material, as well as the Films and Stage Plays Act, arguing that the matter should be addressed through legal channels rather than public opinion.
The Nairobi County official also expressed concern that explicit content circulating on social media could be easily accessed by children and other young users.
Sheryl Responds
Following Mosiria’s comments, Sheryl Gabriella responded lightheartedly on social media, revealing that her mother had jokingly urged her to return home after hearing the county official’s remarks.
“Lol not my mom calling me to come home so Mosiria won’t arrest me. Sijawaicheka hivi,” she wrote.
