Bahati Addresses His Ksh1 Million Pledge, Claims “One Million Is Too Small For Him”
Kenyan singer Bahati has finally addressed the controversy surrounding his unfulfilled promise to donate Ksh1 million to the Harambee Stars, claiming that the situation has been blown out of proportion.
In a candid conversation with fellow artist DK Kwenye Beat at his home, Bahati expressed frustration, suggesting that there were attempts to “sabotage” the process and turn it into unnecessary drama.
“There are people sabotaging this process of me giving the Harambee Stars this one million, so there can be a lot of noise,” he said, making it clear he felt the issue was exaggerated.
“One Million Is Too Small for Me”
The “Adhiambo” hitmaker further insisted that Ksh1 million was not a significant amount for him and should not cause so much fuss on social media.
“This is one million, two million, three million. One million is too small for me. That is not money that we should be bothering with online. This is a small thing,” he stated.
He went on to dismiss the online criticism as a “poor mindset,” adding, “Avoid the people who think one million is a lot of money.”
Bahati explained that he had tried to follow up on the pledge, but certain issues had prevented him from completing the process. He also appeared to shift some of the blame to the players, questioning why they had not organized themselves to receive the money.
“I tried to make calls. There are other things I don’t want to talk about in public,” he said. “Why didn’t the players themselves organize something so I could go?”
Despite the backlash, Bahati maintained that his humility should not be mistaken for weakness. “People shouldn’t test my humility,” he told DK, making it clear he was not pleased with how the issue had been handled publicly.
