Oga Obinna Denies Firing His Employee Live on Air
Image: Oga ObinnaMedia personality Oga Obinna has dismissed viral speculation that he fired his production manager during a recent live recording, insisting the controversial moment was entirely misunderstood.
Speaking in a podcast interview, the comedian laughed off the allegations, joking, “Nooo, that was AI,” before offering a detailed explanation of the chaotic scene.
The Unscripted Intruder
Obinna explained that the incident occurred while recording an episode featuring activist Gaucho. The confusion arose when an unfamiliar man walked onto the set mid-intro and began plugging his phone into an extension cable already in use for production equipment.
“I’m doing my intro, the team is set, camera one, two, three, DOP, sound guy, and suddenly, behind Gaucho, I see someone I’ve never seen before plugging in his phone,” Obinna recounted, noting that the production manager was unexpectedly missing from the set at that critical moment.
He added that his bodyguard, Munez, was also away from his post, contributing to the disorder.
A ‘By-the-Way Comment’
The host admitted that the visible disruption caused him to lose composure and question the whereabouts and competence of his production leadership.
“It’s the work of the production manager to make sure everything runs smoothly. I’m just the host. So when I noticed the disorder, I said, ‘I think my production manager is fired,’ but I didn’t mean it literally,” Obinna clarified.
The viral clip showed a visibly frustrated Obinna sighing and declaring the firing, but the host confirmed that the statement was a spontaneous, “heat of the moment” comment and not an actual dismissal.
“I didn’t even have that conversation with him after,” he emphasized, making it clear that the drama was purely for the cameras and that his production manager remains employed.
