Mike Sonko flosses his 1-in-500 Samsung Tri-Fold
Mike Sonko has reportedly become the first person in Kenya to own the exclusive Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, a device produced in very limited quantities worldwide.
Reports indicate that Sonko purchased the smartphone for approximately KSh 609,000 (about USD 5,300). Only 500 units of the device were manufactured globally, making it one of the rarest smartphones currently on the market.
The purchase has attracted significant attention online due to both the device’s rarity and its high price tag. Known for his active presence on social media and his taste for luxury items, Sonko shared details of the acquisition shortly after obtaining the phone.
About the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold
The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold represents a new step in foldable smartphone technology. Unlike traditional foldable phones that bend once, the tri-fold design allows the device to fold into multiple sections.
When fully unfolded, the screen expands into a display similar in size to a small tablet, offering more screen space while still remaining portable.
Advanced foldable devices typically feature:
-
Flexible AMOLED display technology
-
A multi-panel folding mechanism
-
High-performance processors with large storage capacity
-
Premium camera systems
-
Multitasking capabilities with split-screen support
Foldable smartphones have become a key area of innovation in the premium mobile market as manufacturers try to combine large screens with pocket-friendly designs.
Expansion of the Foldable Phone Market
In recent years, foldable devices have grown into a notable segment of the global smartphone industry. Companies such as Samsung Electronics have heavily invested in this category through products like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.
These devices typically command higher prices than standard smartphones due to factors such as:
-
Advanced hinge engineering
-
Flexible display technology
-
Limited production volumes
-
Premium market positioning
The tri-fold concept is viewed as an experimental evolution of foldable technology, designed to deliver a larger display without sacrificing portability.
