Planned Power Maintenance to Affect Nairobi, Kiambu and Mombasa Areas on April 16
Several parts of the country are set to experience scheduled power interruptions on Thursday, April 16, 2026, as part of ongoing electricity maintenance works.
Nairobi Region
In Nairobi, power outages will affect sections of Runda and surrounding areas from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected locations include Runda Drive, Ruaka Grove, Mimosa Road, Mimosa Vale, Mimosa Close, and parts of the Northern Bypass heading towards Two Rivers. Nearby customers are also expected to experience the interruption.
Additionally, parts of Kaloleni Estate will be impacted during the same hours. Areas set to be affected include Kaloleni, Ojimbo, Kaloleni Primary School, St. John Primary School, and sections around United Energy along Jogoo Road, as well as adjacent customers.
Kiambu County
In Kiambu County, particularly around Limuru and Tigoni, the outage will also run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Areas expected to be affected include Karanjee, Tigoni Hospital, Tigoni Police Station, Limuru Golf Club, and St. Paul’s University.
Other locations include Muguga Pyrethrum, Lower Kabuku, KARLO, Shiva Farm, One Redhill, St. Julians, and surrounding areas.
Mombasa County
In Mombasa County, parts of Shimanzi and Makande Road will also experience power interruption between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Affected facilities include Vivo Energy Kenya, East Africa Terminals Limited, Ola Energy Mombasa LPG, East African Storage Company, Gulf Gas Wholesalers, Gas Petro Bulk Limited, as well as the Fire Brigade and Port Fire Station.
Advisory to Residents
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to plan accordingly, as electricity supply will be temporarily unavailable during the maintenance period. The scheduled works are part of routine efforts to improve service reliability and infrastructure efficiency.
