Maureen Waititu complains that things in Kenya are deteriorating under this regime
Maureen Waititu has lamented the growing economic struggles facing ordinary Kenyans, saying the country is deteriorating as only a small group continues to benefit while the majority are left struggling to survive.
In a statement shared on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Waititu reflected on the rising cost of living and widening inequality, arguing that many families are finding it increasingly difficult to meet basic needs amid ongoing economic pressure.
“Sad how our country is just deteriorating with only a few benefiting at the expense of the majority of poor Kenyans,” she said.
She noted that the gap between the rich and poor appears to be widening daily, leaving many citizens burdened by financial hardship and uncertainty.
Leadership under scrutiny
The content creator also weighed in on leadership, saying true leadership should be guided by justice, humility, wisdom and genuine concern for citizens rather than selfish interests and abuse of power.
According to Waititu, leaders should remain mindful of the responsibility entrusted to them and prioritise the wellbeing of the people they serve.
“True leadership is rooted in justice, humility, wisdom, and care for the people, not oppression, selfish gain, or abuse of power,” she stated.
She further stressed the importance of accountability, saying leaders must recognise that their actions directly affect the lives and dignity of citizens.
“God holds leaders accountable for how they treat those entrusted to them,” she added.
Economic frustrations continue
Waititu’s remarks come as many Kenyans continue to express frustration over the high cost of living, rising fuel prices and transport disruptions that have affected households across the country.
Media personality Willis Raburu has also recently spoken about the economic challenges facing citizens, urging leaders to take urgent action to ease the burden on struggling families.
“Truth is, we are all in pain, we are all suffering. It is true the government must move to alleviate the crisis; even if fuel is a geopolitical issue, it has local ramifications,” Raburu said.
He further called on both government and opposition leaders to work together in finding practical solutions to the ongoing economic difficulties affecting Kenyans.
