Jose Chameleon to pay ex-wife Kshs 260K in child support
Jose Chameleone, born Joseph Mayanja, has reportedly reached a major agreement to formally end his marriage with his estranged wife, Daniella Atim, after years of separation and an extended legal battle.
According to reports from Uganda, the pair agreed on a monthly child support payment of Ugx 7.5 million, approximately KSh 259,500, for the upkeep of their five children.
Details of the Agreement
The reported settlement followed several months of court-directed mediation overseen by Justice Jane Okuo Kajuga of Uganda’s High Court. Although the agreement has reportedly been reached, it is still awaiting the judge’s final signature before becoming legally binding.
Under the arrangement, Atim will retain custody of the couple’s five children — Abba, Alpha, Amma, Alba, and Xara — while Chameleone will have visitation rights.
“It is alleged that following a series of meetings, Jose Chameleone accepted to remit two thousand US dollars monthly as upkeep for the children,” a source reportedly stated.
A Marriage That Faced Challenges
Chameleone and Atim tied the knot in June 2008 at St James Catholic Parish in Kampala. However, the relationship later encountered serious challenges, eventually leading Atim to relocate to the United States with their children about five years ago.
In her divorce filing, Atim cited cruelty, desertion, and adultery as reasons for seeking the dissolution of the marriage. She stated that the relationship had irretrievably broken down due to the absence of love, affection, and empathy.
“There is no collusion, condonation, or connivance as to the dissolution of the marriage between us,” Atim stated in her affidavit.
Property and Asset Disputes
The division of the couple’s marital property reportedly remains unresolved and complex. Some reports indicate that the court directed the pair to split certain assets equally, while others suggest that issues concerning property ownership will be handled separately by the Family Division of the High Court.
One of the notable assets mentioned is the family home in Seguku. Reports claim the court agreed that Chameleone would retain the property as a family residence accessible to both parties when necessary.
Previously, the “Valu Valu” hitmaker had publicly maintained that his wealth and assets were meant for the benefit of his children rather than his wife.
With the mediation process now reportedly nearing completion, the once high-profile couple appears set to officially close a chapter that spanned nearly two decades.
