Jimwat discusses mental health struggles due to pressure of fame

Jimwat has opened up about a challenging period in his life that saw him walk away from the music industry, revealing that the pressures of fame became too much to handle at the height of his career.

Speaking during an interview on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, the artist reflected on the struggles that led him to step away from the spotlight and focus on rebuilding his life outside the entertainment scene.

Taking a Break From Fame

Jimwat explained that the demands and expectations that came with being a public figure eventually became overwhelming, prompting him to make the difficult decision to leave music altogether.

“I had to take a break from public life. I quit music, literally,” he said.

The musician noted that stepping away from the industry gave him an opportunity to focus on personal growth and explore other career paths away from the pressures of celebrity life.

Returning to School

During his hiatus, Jimwat enrolled in school and pursued studies in graphic design, a field he says opened up new opportunities for him.

“I went back to school and completed graphic design,” he shared.

After graduating, he secured a full-time office job and spent about a year working a regular nine-to-five position.

“I got a job, a 9-to-5 for a whole year,” he said.

The transition from music to corporate life was not easy, however. Jimwat admitted that adapting to workplace routines and strict schedules took time.

“The first few weeks I used to come in late,” he recalled. “My boss told me that you have to come in before the deadline, not after.”

He said the experience taught him valuable lessons about discipline, responsibility, and structure—qualities he believes helped him grow both professionally and personally.

Finding His Way Back to Music

Despite embracing a new career path, Jimwat said his passion for music never disappeared.

Balancing work and creativity proved difficult, and he eventually found himself being drawn back into the industry as fans continued to reach out and demand new music.

“I didn’t have time because work was demanding, and I couldn’t make music,” he explained. “But things aligned in a way that I started doing shows again.”

The musician said his return was fuelled by a genuine love for music and a desire to reconnect with his audience.

“I had to feed my passion, which is music,” he said. “And fans were still demanding, so I went back.”

A New Perspective

Even during his time away from the stage, Jimwat remained connected to his creative side through graphic design, which he continues to use for personal projects such as creating logos, posters, and T-shirt designs.

Today, the artist says he is fully committed to music once again and grateful for the lessons he learned during his time away from the industry.

According to Jimwat, the experience helped him develop a healthier balance between his career, personal growth, and creative ambitions, leaving him better prepared for the next chapter of his musical journey.
