Pastor Kanyari Regains Custody Of Children Following Emotional Public Feud

Controversial preacher Pastor Victor Kanyari has officially reunited with his two children, Sky Victor and Danivictor. This breakthrough follows a highly publicized and emotional custody battle that gripped the public eye.

The custody dispute erupted shortly after the tragic passing of Kanyari’s ex-wife, gospel singer Betty Bayo, in November 2025. Kanyari publicly sounded the alarm, claiming he was being denied access to his children. He leveled serious allegations against Betty’s widower, Hiram Gitau (popularly known as Tash), accusing him of neglecting the children’s welfare and passionately appealing for public intervention.

A Breakthrough Announced in Church

Addressing his congregation during a church service on Sunday, June 28, 2026, a relieved Kanyari confirmed that the children are finally back under his care. However, he emphasized that the situation remains delicate as the family navigates the aftermath of recent events.

“Saa hii niko nao, lakini wanaogopa camera (Right now I am with them, but they are afraid of the camera),” Kanyari shared, explaining that he is strictly prioritizing their emotional healing over public exposure.

He noted that he spent the weekend bonding with the children, focusing entirely on helping them transition into a stable, nurturing environment.

The Power of Public Support

Kanyari extended his deep gratitude to several high-profile public figures whose vocal advocacy helped expedite the custody resolution. He specifically credited musician Akothee, gospel artist Eko Dydda, and Nairobi environment officer Geoffrey Mosiria for using their platforms to champion his cause.

“Ningependa sana kushukuru Akothee, Eko Dydda na Mosiria kwani walikuwa wanapiga makelele. Mambo yameanza kuwa mazuri, hata kama si 100 per cent,” he stated. (“I would really like to thank Akothee, Eko Dydda, and Mosiria because they were making noise. Things have started looking up, even if it’s not 100 percent yet.”)

Additionally, the preacher thanked Betty’s UK-based friend, Shiru Stuart, for her steadfast support of the family following the singer’s demise and her advocacy during the custody standoff.

A Long Road to Healing

While the children are legally back with their father, Kanyari acknowledged that the emotional scars run deep. He revealed that they are still processing the trauma of past events and urged Kenyans to offer patience and spiritual support during this transition.

“Tuendelee kuwaombea ili mawazo mabaya yasiwaingie. Wana mambo wanahitaji kusahau. Healing is a process,” he urged. (“Let us continue praying for them so that negative thoughts don’t overcome them. They have things they need to forget. Healing is a process.”)
