Zari Hassan Reflects on Life After 40: ‘Everyone Your Age Is on a Different Timeline’
Image: Zari HassanUgandan socialite and entrepreneur Zari Hassan has shared her thoughts on life after 40, saying the milestone comes with the realization that people of the same age can be at completely different stages in life.
In a social media post shared on Monday, July 6, 2026, the mother of five said there is no universal timeline for success, marriage, parenthood or personal achievement, urging people to embrace their individual journeys.
“Being 40+ is weird; everyone your age is on a completely different timeline,” Zari wrote.
‘Everyone’s journey is different’
Zari observed that while some people in their 40s are already grandparents, others are still raising young children, beginning new relationships or celebrating decades of marriage.
She also joked about how differently people age, noting that some appear much younger than their years while others seem to have weathered life’s toughest experiences.
“Some are grandparents, some are changing nappies at 3AM, some are dating 20-year-olds, and some are celebrating 20 years of marriage,” she wrote.
“Half look 28; the other half look like they survived a war.”
Health over comparison
Rather than comparing herself to others, Zari said her focus is on maintaining her health and enjoying life as she grows older.
“Meanwhile, I’m just trying to become one of those suspiciously healthy older people,” she added.
The businesswoman, who regularly shares her views on relationships, parenting and personal development, has often encouraged her followers to prioritize self-growth over societal expectations.
Embracing life after 40
Zari’s message resonated with many social media users who agreed that life after 40 looks different for everyone.
Her reflections highlight the reality that while some people are reaching traditional milestones such as becoming grandparents or celebrating long marriages, others are raising young families, pursuing new careers or starting fresh chapters in life.
The post also underscores a growing shift in priorities among many people over 40, with greater emphasis on health, happiness and personal fulfilment rather than measuring success against other people’s timelines.
