Bongo Flava Legend Spark Passes Away Suddenly; Industry In Shock

The Tanzanian music fraternity is reeling following the sudden death of veteran Bongo Flava artist Selemani Ramadhan, famously known as Spark. The “Usiniache” hitmaker reportedly passed away in his sleep on Sunday night, with the tragic discovery made on Monday morning when he failed to wake up.

Neighbors who found him rushed him to a nearby medical facility, but he was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival.

A Shocking Departure

What has intensified the grief among fans and colleagues is the fact that Spark showed no signs of illness prior to his passing. His close friend and long-term collaborator, Tundaman, expressed profound devastation, revealing that he was in total denial until he personally visited the hospital to confirm the news.

Tundaman described Spark as more than just a colleague, but a core member of his family.

“We are in deep sorrow. The worst part is that he wasn’t sick—that is what hurts the most. Just yesterday, he was seen in different places, just chatting and sharing stories… I didn’t believe it until I got to the hospital.” — Tundaman

Final Moments and Memories

Reflecting on their last encounter, Tundaman recalled meeting Spark on a train headed to Dodoma. During that meeting, Spark was using a scarf as an improvised face mask. When asked if he was feeling unwell at the time, Spark reportedly assured Tundaman that he was in good health and doing well.

A Lasting Musical Legacy

Spark earned his place in Bongo Flava history with several soulful hits that defined an era of Tanzanian music. He is best remembered for:

  • “Usiniache” featuring Chidi Benz

  • “Jerah La Moyo” featuring Z Anto

  • “Nipe Ripoti” featuring Tundaman and Madee

Tributes Pour In

As the news of his death spreads, social media has been flooded with tributes from fans and fellow entertainers mourning the veteran star.

  • “Rest in peace, Selemani. Rest well, my friend.”

  • “Dah, death is truly a deep mystery.”

While the industry processes this sudden loss, the focus remains on celebrating the timeless music Spark leaves behind. Burial arrangements are expected to be shared by his family in due course.
