Gengetone Artist Shalkido Hospitalized In ICU After Road Accident, Obinna Shares Update

Popular Gengetone artiste Kevin Mburu Kinyanju, widely known as Shalkido (a former member of the Sailors Gang), is in critical condition and has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following a serious road accident.

The news was confirmed by media personality Oga Obinna on Sunday, October 5, 2025, who urged fans to keep the singer in their prayers.

“Shalkido is critical in the hospital. Apparently, he had an accident today early morning,” Obinna posted, noting the suddenness of the tragedy.

Critical Condition with Brain Injuries

Obinna provided an update from Kenyatta University Referral Hospital, where Shalkido is currently receiving treatment in the ICU. The comedian reported the doctors’ grim assessment of the artiste’s injuries.

“According to Dr. Lillian, Shalkido aliingia (came in) after an accident this morning. Ako na internal bleeding kwa brain (He has internal bleeding in the brain), the brain is also swollen, and his left leg is broken,” Obinna revealed, highlighting the severity of the situation.

Moments Before the Crash

Obinna detailed the events leading up to the accident, confirming he was with Shalkido just hours before the crash. He stated that he had invited the “Wanyola” hitmaker to perform at his show in Thika.

“When we were leaving, we lost him at some point. When we met at the merging road to Thika, he was on his bike,” Obinna narrated.

He added that he even fueled Shalkido’s motorcycle before they proceeded, which was around 4 a.m.

Obinna last saw the artiste taking an exit past KU as he headed back to Nairobi. However, he did not disclose the cause or exact location of the crash. Fans are now awaiting further updates on Shalkido’s condition as he fights for his life.
