Oga Obinna Reacts To Mike Sonko’s Viral Video Confronting Daughter’s Husband
Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was involved in a heated confrontation with his son-in-law on Saturday after receiving a distress call from one of his daughters, who alleged her husband had slapped her.
Sonko’s daughter reportedly called her mother, claiming the alleged attack occurred after she simply asked her husband what they would have for breakfast.
Immediate Intervention and Public Statement
Reacting swiftly, Sonko and his team immediately went to the daughter’s residence. The former Governor later posted a video of the confrontation on his social media, along with a powerful statement on domestic violence.
“Today, we received a distress call from our daughter that shook us to the core, her voice trembling, her spirit broken,” Sonko wrote. “As a parent, nothing prepares you for the moment your child reaches out in fear, in pain, or in desperation. I acted immediately, because no mother or father can sit still when their child is hurting.”
During the confrontation, which was captured on video, the son-in-law remained largely silent when pressed by Sonko for his reasons for the alleged assault.

Oga Obinna Responds
Oga Obinna has shared his sentiments on the latter, including how he would react if one of his daughters had faced the same situation.
”I have just seen the video. What I would say is this. Mike Sonko, big up. You have restraint. Mimi my daughters nikiambiwa my boyfriend has beat me, that is where I draw the line. Mimi nakupiga then we talk,” he stated
Obinna said that he would not have tolerated talks and would rather engage in a ‘physical confrontation’ first before solving the issue through a conversation.
Financial Sponsorship Revealed
Sonko revealed the extent of his financial support for the couple, disclosing that he bankrolls their entire life, including paying their rent, children’s school fees, buying groceries, and even purchasing them a Range Rover.
The politician used the incident to highlight the pervasive danger of domestic violence, arguing that if his own daughter—who has significant financial support and stature—could be assaulted in her own home, countless other women from all walks of life are in danger.
Despite the highly charged confrontation, Sonko was seen restraining his team from physically hurting his son-in-law, stating that violence would not solve the issue. He concluded his public message by calling on women in similar abusive relationships to seek help, noting that several hospitals in the city offer specialized services for victims of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).
