Georgina Njenga Credits Her Faith For Overcoming Depression & Embracing Sobriety

Popular influencer and content creator Georgina Njenga has shared a deeply personal and transformative chapter of her life, revealing how a renewed faith in God became her anchor during a dark battle with depression and alcoholism.

In a heartfelt testimony shared on her platforms, Georgina recounted living in “emotional darkness” for an extended period, which led her to heavy drinking as a coping mechanism. She bravely admitted that she “was drinking to escape my mental health, not for fun,” often leading to impulsive and regrettable public behavior.

“Thank you, Jesus, because I believed in you at my lowest. I prayed to you. I knew you’d come through, and you came through,” she wrote, expressing profound gratitude for her spiritual transformation.

The mother of one, who recently celebrated over 50 days of sobriety, appears to be in a significantly healthier place. She has adopted a more balanced lifestyle, embracing healthy weight gain and finding a newfound sense of peace. In her reflections, Georgina stated that she no longer seeks love or affirmation from people, as God’s love has become enough.

Her struggle with depression reached a critical point where some of the brands she collaborated with noticed her distress and reached out, expressing concern for her well-being. “I’m realising God and Jesus have been the light to me. Like, it’s so crazy the way you can never understand the light and the darkness until you go through it, ” she reflected.

Georgina also explained the significance of the semicolon tattoo on her hand, noting that it symbolizes her journey as a survivor of depression—a quiet yet powerful reminder of everything she has endured. She recalled feeling so isolated during her darkest moments that she found it “safer to open up to strangers than to those close to her.”

Looking ahead, the influencer expressed her desire to one day document her full experience in a detailed video, clarifying that much of what the public witnessed on social media was only a glimpse into her private struggles. She closed her message with a word of encouragement to her fans, particularly those battling depression:

“To anyone going through anything, if I am finally healing—and I went through things publicly and worse privately—you can do it too.”
