Kenya Power Announces Scheduled Electricity Maintenance in Five Counties on Friday, July 17

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity maintenance works that will affect parts of Kisumu, Nyeri, Meru, Embu and Kiambu counties on Friday, July 17, 2026.

The utility company said the scheduled maintenance is aimed at facilitating network improvements and urged customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly, as power supply will be interrupted for several hours.

Kisumu County

Residents in Masaba Market and Bohorera will experience a power outage from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Areas expected to be affected include Masaba Market, Masaba Primary School, Masaba Village, Bohorera and all adjacent customers.

Nyeri County

In Muruguru, Marua and FK Resort areas, electricity will be unavailable between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

The outage will affect Rukandu, Kiamuiru, Githiro, Satima Flour Mills, Mugwathi, Jubilant Nest Hotel, Vet Pro Ltd, Gachihi, Ngibuini, Mahugu, parts of Kahiga, Gikunju Maternity, Kwa George and nearby customers.

Meru County

Customers in Gakurine, Kithoka and Chugu will experience a planned power interruption from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Areas affected include Gakurine, Kiandiu, Chugu, Kwiriro Market, Runongone Airtel, Kaithe Market, Kithoka, Freds Academy, Thiiri Cultural Centre, Bishop Lawi Imathiu Primary and Secondary Schools, Kithoka Ripples and surrounding customers.

Embu County

The scheduled maintenance will also affect Karurumo Market and Kanyuambora Market from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Customers in Karurumo Health Centre, Runyenjes Technical, J.B. Muturi, Kamumu Market, Karigiri Primary School, Kianthambu Primary School, Kathagutari Primary School, Kavengero Market, Ngunyumu Market, Kanyangi Market, Cianthia Secondary School, Gwakaithi Primary School, Iriri Primary School and adjacent areas will be without electricity during the exercise.

Kiambu County

In Sigona, Zambezi and Mugumoini, power will be interrupted between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

The maintenance will affect Sigona, Zambezi, Nderi, KARI Muguga, KETRI, Mugumoini, Kamangu, Kamangu Shopping Centre, Runana and neighboring customers.

Kenya Power has advised residents and businesses in the affected areas to make the necessary preparations ahead of the scheduled maintenance and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
