Kenya Power announces maintenance in the following counties and estates

Kenya Power has announced a series of scheduled electricity interruptions set to affect multiple regions across the country on Monday, April 20, 2026, as part of ongoing system maintenance.

Mt. Kenya Region

In the Mt. Kenya region, areas around Coca-Cola and King’ongo in Nyeri County will experience a full-day power outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected locations include Kirimara Coffee Factory, Garnerock Estate, Chania Village, Chania Secondary School, Mt. Kenya Junior and Senior schools, Zawadi Estate, Murungaru, Kiganjo Coffee Plantation, King’ongo Prison, Goodwood Properties, Nyeri Baptist Church, Garden Estate, Nyeri Inn, Mpeta House, Highlands, King’ongo Primary School, Nyeri Primary School, Ola Petrol Station, Cofasso Catholic Church, Coca-Cola plant, National Oil, Good Shepherd Church, and surrounding customers.

North Rift Region

In Uasin Gishu County, Cheptabach and nearby areas will face a power interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., affecting Cheptabach, Center Kwanza, Sugoi, Kosachei, Mimosa, and adjacent areas.

A separate outage will impact Soy, Likuyani, and Nangili areas from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Locations expected to be affected include Imbinga, Soysambu, Furfural, Makokha Market, Miremebe, Sikulu, Sango, Kabobo, Silgich, Chemororoch, Mobett, Kisigame, Ivugwi, and surrounding customers.

In Nandi County, Chebarbar and its environs will experience a shorter outage from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

South Nyanza Region

Parts of Kisii County, including Nyangweta, Etago, and Ekona, will also be affected by a planned outage running from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Areas expected to experience the interruption include Kenyenya Primary School, Nyangweta SDA Secondary School, Etago Market, Nyansembe, Nyakeyo, Suguta, Moticho, Engou, Nyabera, Nyamaiya, Ekona, Mogenda, Ochodororo, Maroo, and nearby customers.

Advisory to Customers

Kenya Power has advised residents and businesses in the affected areas to plan accordingly during the maintenance period. The utility company noted that the interruptions are necessary to facilitate system upgrades and ensure reliable electricity supply in the long term.

Customers are encouraged to treat all electrical installations as live during the outage period and to report any concerns through official customer service channels.
